My wife and I's anniversary is coming up and I was looking for a rec. on a nice place to go. I have eaten plenty of places around town with both good and bad experiences. I was hoping for some new ideas on somewhere to go as we enjoy trying out new venues. I'll list the places we have been that are in the same price range I am looking at:

The Good:
Chianti's
Bella Fresca
Anvil
Superior Steakhouse
L'italiano
Shreveport Club
Olive Street Bistro

The Not-So-Good:
Wine Country
Guiseppe
The Village Grille
Vintage Steakhouse

What's the atmosphere like?

I love steak, but know sometimes steakhouses are a little rough around the edges. For most any occassion this would be fine, but for our anniversary I have a sneaking suspicion the Mrs. wants something slightly more refined. If it's along the lines of Superior atmosphere wise, that's awesome and I'll head that way.

Wow. Perfect assessment / agreed wholeheartedly.

Step it up: go to the Mabry House.

Used to be one of my go-to places but it has dropped off a cliff. I went there a few weeks ago and the bugs were out of control - not just fruit flies, but all sorts of tiny winged creatures along that front window area.

Ah, how could I forget about OSB! Been there too and loved it.

Looks like you and Gary agree on Mabry House. I have heard good things. What should I expect from there food wise?

Was that you who had the awful experience there after knowing the family for years? That thread has kept me from going there to be honest.

Dear god man. That is disgusting and very disappointing to hear. Hopefully they get it under control because I've always really liked the place.

Coco, in light of this news I would go to Mabry House. It's perfect for an anniversary dinner and I think your wife would love it.

Yes that was me.

The "deal" was they were going to make it "easy" for us by just giving everyone the same appetizer, same soup, entree and dessert. For only $200 a person

Mabry House is mostly known for Chef Steve's traditional French technique, but the menu changes often with what he is able to freshly source.

There is a chefs table inside the kitchen if you are into that sort of thing.

My personal recommendations are both Mabry House and Bella Fresca.

How's your pup doin? What did he top out at? Mine's full grown at 28lbs. I expected her to get bigger but she just quit growing at 9 months.

Mine is at just shy of 2 pounds. Still not house broken. I'm guessing her age is 5 weeks. Have no idea how big she will get but she sure loves to chase her big brother around. He's pretty tolerant since he could easily squash her with the wrong step.

My favorite place in town. Might not be Anniversary dinner material though. Have you been to The Mabry House?

I see some have mentioned Mabry House. Definietly get the table in the kitchen if you can.

38lbs. will be 2 years old 6/23

I would like her to be about 5 lbs less. I finally got the wife to stop sneeking her more food. :)

Couldn't ask for a better dog though. We are half arse thinking about getting a second one.

That thread was awesome. Did that situation ever get resolved in some way?
