I had a bag of frozen sliced yellow squash. I put them a glass baking dish then into the microwave to soften and slightly chopped them with my spatula.

I then added about 3 tablespoons of pear infused balsamic and 2 tablespoons of lemon infused olive oil and a splash of chicken broth. I salted a peppered them.

They needed a crust so I put a layer of mozzarella and a thin layer of buttered panko bread crumbs and baked it for about 45 minutes.

It was good and we enjoyed it but needed a chef’s touch to be great. What else could I have done?

I’m not sure how to address all this.

Seriously, start with fresh squash. I feel like all that work you did was like putting lipstick on a pig

Fresh squash, slice or chunk, salt and a little olive oil, fire. That or make squash patties.

Reads like it needed something to brighten it. Squeeze lemon or maybe apple cider vinegar.

Not much to work with. As already said, frozen squash only gets so good.
