Cool, so the roads are not blocked off anymore and we can drive out to see it?

pretty neat seeing all the fish jumping as they're being dumped in to the spillway.

Great video, thanks.
I didn't notice this the first time I watched. Pretty cool though. Are those Asian Carp??

Those are Northern Pike. They were in Minnesota yesterday. That is how fast the river is flowing.

I got cought up in the hmy shutdown yesterday when they started opening the 5 other gates. Unreal water flow compared to just the 4 gates.
Fish? Them suckers were everywere. A true gillnetters dream.

Nothing cool about the fact that thousands of people will be affected by that water.

The southwest side of the spillway is like a large concrete pool about 25' wide and 4' deep with concrete pillars evenly spaced to break up the water flow. The edge has a walkway about 1.5' wide. This is all based on a 38 year-old memory, so don't hold me to my measurements. At any rate, it will be full of fish once the gates are closed and the water recedes.
In 1973, we walked along there casting a Mepps around the pillars and we caught a ton of fish, including Northern Pike.

dude, stfu. This is a flood plain. The people knew this when choosing to live there. I feel bad it has to happen to them, but it DOES HAVE TO HAPPEN. The alternative is not letting anyone live there so people like you dont get their panties in a twist when they have to flood it.
This IS pretty cool to see. Lighten up.
