Anyone in this area???
My dad/brother have a camp somewhere off of highway 910 I think ... mom said that some of the camp owners (Bubba and Sam to be specific) are staying at their camps as they think they'll be "okay" but my dad already has water to the 2nd step ... 1 more step and it's the porch.

You mean on the west side of the Atchafalaya?

I'll be heading up there tomorrow, probably. Tell me where and I'll look.

Sorry, but no. However, knowing someone has a name like Lootie is making me jealous of my own moniker.

This Dude was just offering to help.
I plan to run up to Simmesport through Lebeau, Palmetto, and Bayou Current, water levels permitting. Then I will cross the Atchafalaya and run the east levee (Hwy 463, I think it is) to 15. Going to look at ORCS. Then south to Morganza on Hwy 1 if I can get that far and if they will let me cross, stopping around Batchelor to take some pictures of the forebay. If I can cross, I'll run down through Fordoche then down to Lottie and over to Krotz Springs.
Anyone has anything they want investigated on that route, let me know and I will take a look. I can post the report here or let you know privately, your call.
In direct response to question here, I was not planning to go northeast of Simmesport on the west side of the Atchafalaya. Is that toward Sicily Island? I am pretty sure those roads flooded in 73, so I was going to stay clear. I would be more than happy to look in and report that far up if I can get there.

Judge, I've never been there ... all I know is that the camp is "at the end of 910 somewhere" ... to me they talk about 3 rivers ... thanks but please don't go out of your way.
And I really was wondering if one of the previous posters actually know Bubba & Sam ... my parents said that they are staying & I guess actually will be in touch with them.
eta: STAY SAFE Judge.
In 1973 water was to the bottom of the electric recptacles ... figuring this will be worse. At about 5:45 or so water had already gotten to the 2nd step per my mom from friends that are there still trying to get their stuff out.

I think I know that area. If it is what I am thinking of, they are going to get backflooding from the Red/Atchafalaya, I would think. The Three Rivers Wildlife Management Area is right next to the ORCS. I am pretty sure there will be water on the road leading into it. I will at least get a look at the area and will try to let you know. That are is pretty wet, as I recall, at all times of the year, and it has a lot of swamp vegetation (eg, palmetttos). But who knows?

End of 970, maybe? That would make more sense.

Yeah, that's it ... looked on a map 970. 970 ends at 418 ... not sure if it's a left or right turn to make but it's in the general area. My brother said that it's really not able to be seen on google due to the heavy trees etc.
Be careful on your trip.

I know the area. Right next to Keller's Lake, I think. Pretty sure that is going to take some water. How much is anyone's guess. I can see the area once I make the turn onto 15 and will try to evaluate.

I so wish I knew the names ... it's kind of like a little neighborhood of camps and all I know is that my dad's is red ... I've got a feeling that water is already in.
My brother, thank goodness for his taking care of this for my dad, already has Service Master lined up to clean it out and contractors lined up to repair.

I'm pretty sure that is it. There is probably going to be some water there, but maybe not much.

Limited water at base of levee at 418. Maybe two feet on the Atchafalaya side on leftside of 15 as you turn north toward orcs. Massive water on mississippi side.

Thanks Judge ... my mom was here today and again said 910 was the hwy ... but I don't see that on the map at all in that area.
Time will tell ... I'm hoping that Bubba & Sam are ok (NO this is not a joke) as they stayed behind ... they should be in touch with my parents at soem point.
Thanks again.
