LSUFreeks farks are everywhere. I am going to start putting a non visible watermark on mine just for this reason. I have had a few things I made make their way back to me in e-mails and such. It's funny how fast stuff we make on here spreads.

Yeah, but when people start making a profit off your work without your consent, there is a problem.

By the way, lsufreek, did you ever see the source pic you requested? It is in the "What's a fark" thread.

I understand that. But if it was not your picture in the fist place that's the grey area. But I do understand you (an artist) did something to it and in most cases it was for the benefit of the forum (making a kickass desktop background). That is between the photographer and the artist. I don't condone what is being done by the E-Bay person. I have been doing this for 7 years and I have seen alot of rippers. That is what upsets me the most, give credit where it is due. That way maybe the artist can make a few dollers himself.

It's been 6 months since I last did anything. Now I just want to draw for the people here, make a few friends and enjoy LSU football.

The guy has an Ebay store called Action Sports Prints and More.

1. Download pics from the net
2. Print them
3. Slap a cheap azz frame on them
4. List them on Ebay
5. Profit

Whata doooosh!

Welcome...I am glad to see the Fark Board grow with some fresh talent. It has been the same people here for so long. Freek and NC have held it togethor forever and a few of us have started to trickle in over the past few years. Although I do more sig pics than farks I still like doing a few here and there and checking out others work.

I'm under the impression that the guy did not change a thing from the original poster's work. Not only is he making money off yurintrouble's piece, but theoretically he is making money off the photographer's work as well. I'm sure there are quite a few copyright laws he is violating.

If someone was making money off your work without your consent, wouldn't you be upset?

Here are my two cents.

Until just over a year ago I never signed/watermarked anything. Posted here and on OU's site where attribution was simply not a problem. Occasionally I'd get a chuckle over posters on other sites arguing as to which one of them had photoshopped an image that originated here, but it didn't seem like a big deal. Then a few months after LSUfreek joined TD ( --- and immediately started harassing the hell out of me to sign stuff ), I happened across several pics of mine with OTHER PEOPLE's signatures on them.
Not cool.

The coup de grâce came when when I found a couple of commercial sites e.g., DailyHaHa putting their stamp on my stuff. At that point I caved and started signing everything. Sad in a way, but Freek makes a good point that if folks elsewhere come across something funny, and by way of the Signature/WM can track it to this site, then that's probably a good thing. Certainly better than that traffic going to Daily HaHa, College Humor, the Gator Farkatorium, etc., etc. instead.

Anyway to everyone who's swiped our stuff and claimed it as theirs

- only thing that Ebay jackass could have done worse is to claim the image as his own.

The original stadium pic - as good as it looked with the lightening pic (which was generously posted for out usage) - I was hesitant to post the combined piece without giving credit.... I just like to give credit where credit is due.

EDIT: You know - while I paste people's heads on other bodies, alter backgrounds, etc...

Sorry to jump the answer here - In photoshop, there is a File Info option under the first drop down menu where you can edit it and put your info. I'll upload a pic with and without it in a sec...

You can hit "view source" or save the jpg. and open it in notepad and the info will be in the code...

and watermarked:

save each one with ____ .txt filetype All Files, then open it with notepad. (I think they will be different at the top)

EDIT: It works, about 4 lines down it says belongs to yurintroubl and some other stuff.

Thanks! I'll start doing that from now on.

By the way, I didn't mean to open a can of worms, but you know, that's just how it is sometimes.

By the way, it's been over 7 hours since I sent him the message. Either he doesn't pay attention to his Ebay store email, or he doesn't want to answer the question. I'll let you decide which of these is the correct answer
