Why is fantasy football scoring so touchdown dependent?

Ive been playing with my friends for 15+ years and sometime before we started playing for real money we doubled the points for yardage to make a touchdown equal to 30 yards.

Since then i have joined 2 more leagues (1 keeper, 1 redraft) with standard scoring and it just feels wrong that a wr getting 50 yards earns less on a drive than a backup TE that got schemed the play on the goalline and caught a 1 yard TD.

I look through week 1 scoring and the seperation in scoring between a solid 90+ yard game for wrs and a mediocre 40-50 yard game doesn't feel like its accounted for in standard scoring.

Half PPR does help some with WRs but the issue is still there for RBs (especially if they have a td vulcher backup)

The first league I was in (1988 ) was only TDs. Of course, that probably had more to do with ease of score-keeping than trying to be fair or realistic.

Same here.
Over the years, yardage has become more important as computer technology has improved to calculate the points.

I only play in full PPR leagues, and my preference is Tight End Premium (TEs get 1.5 PPR). (And Superflex for that matter)

I’ve heard of some different variations where there are points per first down, to attempt to level the playing field, but I’ve never played in a league that scores for first downs.

Because it’s always good to score TDs. We base everything off of the 6 points.

ALL TDs worth 6 including passing or a skilled player returns a kick.

Passing yards 1 pt per 30 and two point bonus at 300 equaling 12 points or two TDs

Same with 1 pt per 10 yards rush/receiving with 2 point bonus at 100 or 12/ 2 tds.

All FGs worth 3 points. Kicking FGs is a big part of the actual game. There is nothing I hate more than having a 5 point fg and a 4 point qb TD. That’s never made sense to me.
