Argument between league members about which position is more valuable. I side with WR because the drop off between a wr1 and wr2 is more of gap than that between an rb 1 and rb 2. I can see why some would value rb over wr due to players such as zeke, cmc, and kamara but you could still find a aaron Jones, kerryon, Chris Carson later on in the draft that you know will receive carries due to the running game. A WR has to fight for receptions against 2-3 receivers also being on the field at the same time. A running back mainly only competes with 1 other runningback. In special cases, a committee. The RB0 draft strategy often delivers huge mismatches between WR cores while still allowing you to get rb2’s and later rb’s that take over huge roles. There are only so many wr1’s that are guaranteed targets each week.

The RB1 range (gap between RB1 and rb12) currently sits at 15 fantasy PPG.
The same gap for WR1 is 7ppg

And again RB2 range is 5pts gap, while WR2 range is only a two point gap.

So you tell me

What if I told you, that based on the last 10 years of data for PPR RBs, a target has been worth 2.74 more than a carry to RBs in PPR. Your statement is actually contradictory, albeit unlikely unintentional

In reality the only RBs worth more than WRs are the ones who see ample work through the air. And there is only a handful.

You cannot answer the question in a vacuum. Is CMC more valuable than Michael Thomas? Sure. The position as a whole? Debatable. Depth of target matters as it carries more expected points the further downfield it is. This evens the playing field somewhat

This is a high quality answer.

Mike Tags backed up your point on a recent DFS pod

I think he said 2.5 per target, though

Austin Ekeler is a great case study

He’s RB3 in PPR. 75% of his points have been through the air. Without the rush TDs only 24.8 points have come from the rush
