I've never played in one, but a saves + holds league could help prevent the inanity that is chasing saves

I love chasing saves.. It adds to the strategy, if you don't want to chase saves then spend money on closers in the draft. I choose not to and hope I can get some closers throughout the year.

The draw back for Quality Start leagues is you get no credit for any relief pitchers other than closers.

At least with "wins" you can pick some pts up with middle relief players.

Also a K/bb ratio cat helps also.

Disagree.

Two years ago I rode with Felix as my only capable starter, a couple of meh closers (like Joel Hanrahan) and bunch of really good late inning relief pitchers.

I was in second place behind Honk for a good portion of the year but once I started to try to pick up QS, my ratios started to slip drastically.

Yep... Then I think Papz made a run at me. If the season were a week longer I believe he would have passed me.

In 3 leagues an had no HRs between them. Pitchers usually have the upper hand at the start of the season.

I knew Honkus inflated the market after Sunday and $28 wouldn't fly this time around. Especially for a non injury replacement closer.

VKC I like your strategy of not drafting a closer and using your FAAB on a closer. Sound stratgey because you then have $15-$30 more to spend in the draft on position players other pitchers. The flaw in your strategy is that you haven't gotten a closer yet. You need to be more aggressive!!

Getting a closer in April is going to be better then getting one at the ASB. You aren't going to finish top 3 by punting saves.

Just looked at the auction summary. Lindstrom was close, good thing I changed my amount at 9:30 last night, because I originally had him at 27 dollars.

Before Parnell went down. He was owned by the time he was named closer.

I was going to bid $11 for him.
