Ok, on the app, Ross was cutoff. My apologies.

Eta. Give me the day to consider. I'm at work and can't do too much. What are your thoughts on this trade? I'm seeing a basic trade of SS for SS and Sp for SP.

thanks for the write up MWG. I have rosterbated a good bit since the draft. Those that have been in TDFL with me as well as last year's draft in Votto know that I'm a bargain shopper. So I'm geeked about spending almost half my budget on Trout and Davis and still ending up with my team.

I know where my holes are so hopefully I can fill them productively without blowing my FAAB wad.

SS was SO. EXPENSIVE. Second year in a row my worst pick was a SS (Escobar).

14. Prison Mike

Hitting 7th: Goldy, Harper, and Tulo is stout, but I think the lack of depth really shows on this squad. Mike drafted three studs, a guy who had a really impressive 2013 in Josh Donaldson, a half dozen decent pieces, and a bunch of mediocre $2 and $3 players. Chris Carter is a very good pick because he is about the cheapest 30 HR player there is. I think Yan Gomes will be a top 10 catcher this year with Santana primarily playing third base.

Pitching 12th: The arms are pretty mediocre. Sonny Gray and Alex Cobb could really shine. What Francisco Liriano will show up this year is a question mark, but I think that we see a repeat of 2013. There is some nice depth that could lead to a consistent staff, but there is no ace yet. I really like Archer this year because all former Cubs prospects do well on other teams. The closer situation is pretty scary because Tommy Hunter has no experience in the role and he is the only guy you have.

Overall 14th: I believe this team had some money left over at the end of the auction, and that is a cardinal sin. I do not like the fact that this team drafted roughly eight to ten good players and gambled on cheap guys the rest of the way. Mike did land one of the super prospects, but Tavares cannot stay healthy for the time being. Then again, every single team has a reasonable shot to win it in a redraft league (except for Roll).

Best picks: Josh Donaldson $20, Sonny Gray $8, Chris Carter $6, Tommy Hunter $3

Worst pick: Hiroki Kuroda $5

13. House of Cards

Hitting 13th: I am not too impressed by your bats as there is very little potential to mash bombs or drive in runs. This offense should fare well in runs and maybe stolen bases if Leonys Martin stays in your lineup on a daily basis. Maybe Dominic Brown can play like it is May 2013 all the time, but it looks to me like Matt Adams or your shortstop will lead the team in home runs. It is time to mention that you made one of my favorite picks in the draft with a great SS. He hits 25 bombs and plays every day. What is not to love? Your catcher situation confused me as you spent $23 on two catchers. Why not buy Posey instead or just one of them? I am assuming you will trade off one quickly.

Pitching 3rd: I really think you nailed down saves, but it came at the price of $29. I do love my boy Mat Latos, and his pair of Nationals starters will help in ERA and WHIP, but it should not do much in K. I can only hope your pair of Cards will fail as a Cubs fan, but I am afraid they will both continue their success. I like that your arms go five deep, and it replaces the need for an ace (although Latos will probably pitch pretty close to an SP1).

Overall 13th: I have a hard time believing that you are not a Cardinals fan with five of them on your roster. This squad was built a little like Florida in that he avoided the super expensive studs and built with quality mid-range guys. However, the bats are probably not good enough to get the job done, but I could be just blinded by St. Louis hate.

Best picks: Mat Latos $17, Matt Adams $13, JJ Hardy $12

Worst picks: Yadier Molina $15, Michael Cuddyer $13, Jason Castro $8

12. Whitie’s Supremacists – White Lobster

Hitting 1st: Jacoby Ellsbury is my least favorite first round player. I want someone who will do more in HR and RBI. Yes, there is a great possibility that his home run totals are closer to his 32 HR year, but I think that was fluky. While I do not like the Jacoby buy, you would be hard pressed to argue anyone has a better offense than White. The outfield is beyond stacked. Heyward is going to crush it this year and make the Braves regret not being able to lock him up long term this past offseason. 2013 Ortiz was an elite hitter, but you never know when the magic (or PED’s) will end. Oh yeah, White also McCutchen, Ian Desmond, and many other players with 25+ HR potential like Gyorko, Hart, Uggla, and maybe more.

Pitching 14th: $16 was spent on the great buys of RA Dickey and AJ Burnett, but every other pitcher cost $1. The Joe Kelly purchase may just work out and we know that Ubaldo has talent, but it would take a miracle for this staff to be competitive. Maybe Archie Bradley could be the savior?

Overall 12th: The bats will do their job, and I think AJ and RA will form a pretty dynamic duo of initialed starters, but there are just too many $1 players. I am very interested in how this team shakes out because it makes papz’s team seems balanced. Also, White made a ton of great value picks.

Best picks: Brandon Belt $10, RA Dickey $9, AJ Burnett $7, Corey Hart $2, Joe Kelly $1

Worst picks: $43 Jacoby Ellsbury, no Opening Day closers

11. Captain Kickass – papz

Hitting 2nd: This team may have the most speed in the league by a significant amount while featuring some nice pop. It should be able to compete in all five offensive categories. There are stars up and down the lineup, and Stanton, Gomez, Gonzalez, Kinsler, Reyes, Hamilton x 2, and more are going to be tough to beat over the course of the season. My favorite pick is actually Adam LaRoche who always puts up numbers. I do think he spent a lot on some players that I do not love, especially Jose Reyes.

Pitching 13th: I think papz forgot to draft starting pitchers. I actually like Corey Kluber a lot, but this staff is pretty handle to look at. Lester should be good, but I have no faith in Yovani Gallardo. This team could flirt with a team ERA above 4. The only saving grace of the pitchers is that he loaded up on closers even though LaTroy Hawkins seems to be just a bookmark for Rex Brothers.

Overall 11th: I think papz built his classic team of excellent bats, but I just do not know if you can afford to throw away the categories of ERA, WHIP, and QS. With his abundance of quality bats, papz may need to move a couple for a catcher and starter (or three).

Best picks: Giancarlo Stanton $35, Adam LaRoche $1

Worst picks: Jose Reyes $27, Ian Kinsler $25, Billy Hamilton $21, Martin Prado $15

10. Hot Stove - Honkus

Hitting 9th: Honkus could own multiple 20-20 with Choo, BJ Upton, Pence, and maybe other guys up their HR or SB numbers up a little. Every bat is a good bat, but I am not sure there will be a great bat in there. I guess Freeman or Choo could be that guy, but this team will succeed based on its balance and consistency. By the way, Ryan Zimmerman goes for exactly $25 every single year in auctions.

Pitching 10th: I guess Teheran will have to be the ace that the Braves and Honkus need him to be. Jered Weaver is still very good, but he is certainly no longer elite with his declining peripherals and his K rate. I think Lackey will have another good year. Alex Wood is the x-factor of this staff. I think he will replace one of Beachy or Medlen. This team also cornered the market on closers in waiting with Rex Brothers, Benoit (Street will get hurt), Cody Allen, and Danny Farquhar.

Overall 10th: Honkus went in with the strategy of grabbing a bunch of quality bats and load up on potential saves. I believe he won the league in 2012 with a similar strategy, but flamed out without studs last season. Wonder what will happen this year, but I think his arms are lacking. I do like that Honkus went back to his winning strategy, so I may have severely underestimated this team.

Best picks: Matt Wieters $8, John Lackey $2, Danny Farquhar $1

Worst pick: Julio Teheran $17

9. Tchamp

Hitting 14th: The biggest weakness right now is that your team is pretty injured and the season has not even started. Profar was a terrible blow and neither Machado nor Kemp are ready, so the bats are pretty thin already. I believe that Pujols finally does not have a year of decline. It will not be peak Albert, but the 30-100 guy we once knew should at least return. This offense is not necessarily bad, but the injuries hurt and someone has to be last.

Pitching 5th: This team does the biggest collection of quality starters. Shields, Gio, Cain, and Buchholz should really hold down the ship. I really like these veteran arms. Kimbrel has no reason to relinquish the top closer spot, and Rafael Soriano will also rack up lots of saves. I am afraid that tchamp may have to sell an arm to replace one of his hurt hitters, so that could hurt this strong group.

Overall 9th: If Kemp and Machado get healthy soon as well Albert being Albert, then I would surprised to see this offense stay at the bottom. If Kendrys Morales fails to sign, then he will be an even worse than anyone on Roll’s team because at least they only cost $1.

Best picks: Albert Pujols $25, James Shields $15, Matt Joyce $1

Worst picks: Jurickson Profar $7 (no way to know), Kendrys Morales $5

8. PED Easy as 123 – Thomas

Hitting 11th: I love the fact that this offense has three guys that could hit 30+ bombs, and I guess Hosmer has an outside chance at doing that as well. Braun is a monster and Thomas would not let him go for a bargain. I was really hoping to headline my team with a $40 Braun. I think this team could struggle in OPS with a bunch of middle infielders and outfielders that do not help in this category. I like big four of Braun, Longoria, Trumbo, and Hosmer, but the rest scare me.

Pitching 7th: It is hard to dislike arms that headline Yu and Kenley, but I am not feeling many of the other guys. I do really like Homer Bailey as he is my pick to win the Cy Young. Cingrani should be good as well and CJ Wilson is decent, but I do not trust whoever will be his fifth starter. Also, good work on getting three closers, but I do not trust Axford to grow a mustache. I do think this team will be right near the top of strikeouts because Yu and Kenley could K every batter they face.

Overall 8th: I think Thomas could do very well in a few categories and struggle mightily in a couple others. I noticed he took the route of one superstar hitter and pitcher just like last year. However, for this team to repeat, he needs to find Crush Davis and/or Matt Harvey again.

Best picks: Mark Trumbo $21, Homer Bailey $16, Dexter Fowler $1

Worst picks: Elvis Andrus $17, John Axford $6

7. Nyjer Please – PSU2LSU

Hitting 12th: There are way too many question marks for me in this lineup outside of the great Miggy. Alex Rios still scares me despite posting back to back great fantasy seasons. Beltran and Werth are both good players, but the age and health questions still loom. Adam Eaton was one of the hype guys last year and did not pan out, but I really like him for $3 this season. Billy Butler was a decent buy and Colby Rasmus is 20+ bombs at almost no cost. I would not want to start Neil Walker or Erick Aybar, and the lack of a middle infield could hurt.

Pitching 2nd: The starters are pretty much incredible. For $78, he landed four very good arms that should carry him in the four starting pitching categories. However, there is no upside beyond those four as Tillman and Nova will be average at best and Josh Johnson is already hurt again. Greg Holland was my favorite elite closer because he put up numbers as good as anyone and still cost roughly $5 less than the name brand closers. However, I do not how much help Chad Qualls will be as a second closer. I think I like my guy Jesse Crain in Houston, but the save opportunities will be limited anyway.

Overall 7th: This squad looks like Miggy and the aces to me, and I just do not know if that will be enough in the hitting categories despite having a God in the lineup. I like squads that go heavy on starting pitching because I feel that arms can be undervalued due to inherent risk, but I am not sure how well he complemented the arms in this case. If the veteran guys keep it up, then this team could be a force.

Best picks: Greg Holland $14, Cole Hamels $12, Adam Eaton $3

Worst picks: Alex Rios $3, Josh Johnson $2

6. Swamie

Hitting 3rd: The 1-2 punch is literally unbeatable. Crush Davis and Trout is beyond nasty, but it came with a very hefty price tag of $111. For that money, you could have basically every team’s pitching staff in the league (and White’s almost five times over). The other thing that stands out to me is the amount of pop the rest this lineup features. Pedro Alvarez, Cruz, Soriano, the fake Crush Davis, and maybe the corpse of Ryan Howard will almost certainly help your two super studs lead the league in homers. If Khris Davis matches ESPN’s projections, that will be a sick bargain. I think Segura could arguably be the worst pick in the draft for his cost (not counting players who get injured).

Pitching 11th: The pitching is alright, but only King Felix strikes fear in me. Iwakuma was great last year and I love the pick in a roto because production is production regardless of time. He will be worth the $10 if he gives you 25 starts. Kyle Lohse is surprisingly good at pitching. Justin Masterson is a nice arm. I am psyched about Zack Wheeler and if he is Matt Harvey 2.0, then this staff is incorrectly ranked. Having basically one closer in Reed will put Swamie ahead of a few teams there, but not many.

Overall 6th: I love how the bats were constructed. Power, power, and more power will make the offense formidable in most categories. Segura and Trout will cover SB. It is one of my favorite offenses, so I think this team has the potential to really exceed its ranking.

Best picks: Pedro Alvarez $21, Alfonso Soriano $7, Khris Davis $6, Kyle Lohse $1

Worst pick: Jean Segura $18

5. Chatagnier

Hitting 9th: The bats are pretty proven outside of $21 Jose Abreu. The upside is immense, but it scares me to spend that much money on a player who has not seen a pitch in an MLB game. Then again, I spent $14 on Tanaka. I really like Aaron Hill and maybe even Michael Bourn as rebound candidates this season, but Bourn’s hamstring seems to be far from in the clear. I think Aramis Ramirez is not going to be worth the $13 as Father Time finally defeats another consistent fantasy option. Gattis went cheap, but it will be really interesting if Springer and Baez get major league at-bats and produce.

Pitching 1st: The bats may not scare too many teams, but the arms are really sick. The staff features up to four top 20 arms in baseball. Four closers will give Chat a big advantage where the average team has roughly two closers. I really like the CC pick as well because he will be a consistent fifth starter. The staff is pretty ideal and should score well in all five cats.

Overall 5th: Will the pitching provide enough points to get Chat into the money? I think it can be done as long as the bats are slightly above average. The thing that would scare me the most is that he needs a few guys to stay and healthy and others to get major league at-bats like Morse.

Best picks: Mike Minor $16, Aaron Hill $11, Javier Baez $1

Worst picks: Jose Abreu $21, Ben Zobrist $16, Aramis Ramirez $11

4. Vick’s Kennel Club

Hitting 5th: E5 and Votto should lead the way in four categories while Brett Gardner and Rajai Davis take care of steals for what should be a pretty balanced offense. Outside of the two speed guys, everyone else on the team should contribute in HR and OPS. After 5 or 10 games, I will have some middle infield flexibility and one guy will be expendable for a closer hopefully. However, there are questions with guys like Utley and Holliday. Holliday is literally the most consistent players of the last decade, but there has to be a decline at some point. If Tex fully rebounds and Alex Guerrero works out, then this offense could be very potent.

Pitching 8th: The starters are great with Kershaw and Bumgarner being probably the best 1-2 punch in the league. Tanaka and Moore could also profile as a high end starter. If Pineda works out, then this is maybe the best staff in the league. However, I will be lucky to get more than a handful of saves without playing the waivers or making a trade.

Overall 4th: Besides the lack of closers and no outfield depth, I think I may have drafted better than I thought. There are some good bats in there and stud arms. My middle infield flexibility will hopefully allow me to acquire a real closer.

Best picks: Masahiro Tanaka $14, Brett Gardner $2, Mark Teixeira $2

Worst picks: Patrick Corbin $2, no Opening Day closers

3. Florida tigah

Hitting 6th: Rizzo is absolutely the steal of the draft. I am not sure how he went for only $13. This lineup features some nice, proven bats and lots of young guys who could provide serious stats. I almost feel like this team would be great in 2016, but I think it will still be good in 2014. I like Jay Bruce a lot for his consistency, and $30 is the exact price I had in mind for him. The world out of Colorado is that Arenado is really impressing this spring and should make a big jump from last season at the plate. If Arenado shows his bat caught his glove, then watch out, especially in Coors.

Pitching 6th: Sale is an ace, and I was targeting him as my SP1 before the draft started. Neftali not getting the closer job in Texas is pretty unlucky, but Florida has three other closers to get lots of saves. A lot of people are drooling over what Danny Salazar can do, but $10 could be a pretty hefty price for that potential. Plus, I believe he left about $10 extra, so better budgeting could have turned Salazar into a sure thing like Gio Gonzalez.

Overall 3rd: I do not know you have incredible discipline to not grab a big player, but Florida understands that some of the top guys are sometimes not worth the price and instead loads up the quality $10 to $20 players. The leftover money is bad, but the squad should be strong even worth less than $260.

Best picks: Chris Sale $23, Brian McCann $14, Anthony Rizzo $13

Worst picks: Jason Kipnis $30, Danny Salazar $10, Neftali Feliz $5 (no way to know)

2. Mr. Wiseguy

Hitting 4th: While I usually do not like a total studs and duds roster, I think MWG did a great job here with the guys he bought. Cargo is one of my favorite first round picks, Cano is too good to be ruined by Safeco (fences are in anyway), and David Wright was a nice value for a quality five cat bat. The Jonathan Villar pick was exactly. I love addressing a specific need for cheap with a weak position. It is why JJ Hardy is my favorite fantasy SS. Also, how did Dunn go for $1? I would have surely bid a second buck, but I was already broke. This is a great offense loaded with pop and OPS.

Pitching 9th: Stras and Verlander is a nasty combo that should compete with the two aforementioned great duos on Zeph’s and my squads. I am still quite surprised that he is not headlining his staff with Jose Fernandez. Aroldis Chapman was a terrible blow, but I think he has the Cincinnati closer situation covered with some FAAB spending. Yordano Ventura landing the fifth spot in KC is the potential steal of the draft (not counting Rizzo for $13) because who is not drooling over 100 MPH?

Overall 2nd: Despite the Chapman injury and blowing his budget early, I still really like this team. I think he features a few great $1 buys and paired them with stud bats, two starters, and one now broken closer. Maybe I am wrong, but I think this team is one of the favorites.

Best picks: Justin Verlander $22, Jonathan Villar $6, Adam Dunn $1, Yordano Ventura $1

Worst picks: Justin Upton $29, Aroldis Chapman $19

1. Zeph on PED’s – Zephyrius

Hitting 4th: I like this offense, and I think it will mostly beat ESPN’s projections. The speed should come second only to papz. If Jose Bautista can stay healthy, then he is about as valuable as any bat in the league. He should pair nicely with Beltre and Puig to form a strong core. Curtis Granderson is a huge rebound candidate who can still be a great fantasy option for only $7. I really like Napoli as always, but I miss his catcher eligibility.

Pitching 4th: Winning the Soria sweepstakes for only $2 certainly helps the ranking here, but I think this is one of the most interesting groups of pitchers in the league. This team is going to get a lot of saves. Scherzer and Wainwright is the best competition to my Kershaw and Bumgarner combo. A lot of people think this is Cashner’s big year. Ervin Santana scares me because he was so good last year (the ultimate unpredictable pitcher). Ultimately, I think the arms will be great in ERA, WHIP, and S, but they will hurt in QS and K because they will not be able to throw enough innings.

Overall 1st: I think this team allocated a lot of resources to its pitching, but it still has the bats to scare me. I think this is probably one of the contenders, but it will could in a couple categories. Despite this, no team should compete in all categories unless you build the tank Thomas had in 2013.

Best picks: Jose Bautista $30, Curtis Granderson $7, Joakim Soria $2

Worst picks: Jose Altuve $11, Dustin Ackley $1

I got caught on Justin Upton

Was hoping brave fans would go the next buck so I could get a Cespedes for a little cheaper.

Nail on the head with my strategy.

This years Chris Davis: Trumbo, though I wanted Khris Davis too

This years Harvey: Wheeler , but I think Cingrani comes in close second

I starting to see this style league is different on these sndet things. I drafted Castro initially because I thought a solid backup catcher could really help facilitate maximizing catcher with the 40 or so games Molina is off. I can insert him to the spot.

The OF shows a mistake I made of drafting Brown. I swear, three people clicked that bid button at the same time and I was the last one. I regret not having one first tier guy.

I love my SPs and RPs. Eschewing injuries, I see this as a good staff.

Me either, he was on my sheet for 22 I think and he went late in the draft, that's a big reason why I had the leftover money.

This was my strategy last year, this year it happened on the fly but was pretty thrilled after getting guys like Rizzo, Mauer, McCann, and a few others for bargains IMO. Makes the leftover money easier to swallow, was a pretty miserable feeling after I wouldn't overpay for Pedro Alvarez and realized I wasn't going to be able to spend all 260.

Good write up, know that takes a lot of work. Appreciate it, to MWG for his too.

I tried to base my drafting philosophy off my experience from the draft last year. I wanted trout or miggy and was willing to pay an exorbitant amount for it because a lot of the mid tier players were overpriced. I tried to go with value using a custom auction calculator with our league stats inputted. So I basically went with value and not worrying too much about mix (pitching/hitting).

I thought there was a lot more value and sensible picks this year then last year.

My MI is absolute garbage and I'll probably try and upgrade that via trade if I can after the season gets underway. For now I am just going to have to use waiver wire garbage to fill in until I find something.

Awesome thanks for taking the time to do these. I'm determined to finish higher than my multiple last place rankings.

Obviously these are pretty subjective but just wondering what was your reasoning ranking Whitie’s Supremacists 12th overall (with 1st hitting and 14th pitching) vs Tchamp 9th overall (with 14th hitting and 5th pitching)?
