San Francisco 49ers have signed RB Chris Thompson and DL Eddie Yarbrough to the team’s practice squad. In order to make room on the practice squad, the team released TE Jordan Matthews.

luckily I have no shares of that backfield

ETA: this definitely needed its own thread

**USAGE:

Elijah Mitchell was on the field for 31 of 46 snaps (67%) in the first three quarters of Week 2 before he hurt his shoulder in the fourth quarter.

I want to drop Sermon and ride or die with Mitchell as my last stand with SF backfield.

Unfortunately there is a severe shortage of potential for the RBs on the wire.

If you have an IR slot, or just willing to burn a spot for a few weeks, Jeff Wilson Jr is an interesting stash.

Only RB on the roster with established trust from the coaches at this point

It needs its own stickied thread.

You could title it "Masochists Anonymous"

I picked up Sermon just to stash and hope for him to make a splash in a few weeks. The reason is the same thinking as you. RB is so piss poor thin that I feel like he at least has some lottery ticket qualities to him. We’ll see if it works out.

I know

But it’s either him or the Devonta Freeman’s or Peyton Barber’s of the WW. Last bench spot hoping for the best

I had Mostert as back up in one league and a starter in a two-flex league. Scooped up Mitchell in both because he seems to be the guy. Haven't played him yet, but hopefully he pans out.

**WHO IS HURT:

9/23/21 10:17

quote:

Odds & ends
• Trey Sermon could be going from being a healthy scratch in Week 1 to starting in Week 3. The rookie running back was limited in Wednesday’s practice as he makes his way through the league’s concussion protocol, but Shanahan said Sermon is “on a good path” to play Sunday.

Meanwhile, Elijah Mitchell missed practice with a shoulder issue that Shanahan said was “a little more” than the stinger the team hoped he had suffered Sunday while JaMycal hasty already has been ruled out against the Packers with a high-ankle sprain. Shanahan said Mitchell has a chance to play against the Packers.

The only fully healthy runners on the 53-man roster are Trenton Cannon, who was added last week, and Jacques Patrick, whom the 49ers signed Tuesday.

IN.

If Mitchell plays I will start him, if no Mitchell and Sermon plays, my team is so piss poor, I will probably toss Sermon as my last flex

I feel like they have signed 50 new rbs in the past week so any them of intrest?

**USAGE

9/23 11:10

quote:

49ers RBs: The 49ers barely made it out of Week 2 with any healthy running backs after Elijah Mitchell (shoulder), JaMycal Hasty (ankle), and Trey Sermon (concussion) all picked up injuries at various points of the game last week.

Hasty has already been ruled out for Week 3 while we are waiting on updates on Mitchell and Sermon. With all of the injuries, the 49ers still have Trenton Cannon who they added last week, Kerryon Johnson on the practice squad, while they also signed Jacques Patrick yesterday.

Mitchell did return to the game last week and is considered day-to-day. While in the game, Mitchell had 19 touches for 53 yards against a good Philadelphia defensive front. Mitchell even had a potential touchdown reversed that was followed by a Garoppolo sneak for a score. While Mitchell did not stack many yards on his touches, he also did not really do anything to play himself out of future touches should he be ready to play Sunday night.

*On Wednesday, Shanahan stated that Mitchell’s injury now is looking worse than expected and more than a stinger. Mitchell did have a neck injury in college in 2018 that could be related, but his status is now more cloudy than exiting last Sunday. Continue to monitor the 49ers practice reports this week.

My plans:
1) Sit them this week
2) Let Mitchell blow up on my bench
3) Start Mitchell next week only for Sermon to get 15 carries and 2 TDs
