honest question. what does the commish need to do?
Well typically it has been:
Fill the league / send invites
Collect payments
Pay league site fee
Begin conference draft
Change people to correct conference
Set auction dates
Run auction while drafting team
Run opposite conference auction
Change matchups each week to match up top 6 scoring teams with bottom 6, each conference
Set playoff team matchups and bye weeks
Send payouts at the end of the season
Also many people complain about RT but it easily has the best auction draft, and is the best one I have seen for what we do. Only complaint is secondary waivers.

I don’t have a huge issue with RT but I don’t think the auction software does anything better than the others. The secondary waivers is stupid and is enough of a reason to change. I think RT just complicates something that shouldn’t be. This shouldn’t be as difficult to commish this league as you make sound

Eta: I've been screwing around with fantrax's commish tools and it looks like you can do pretty much do anything with their waivers. Has anyone done an auction or live draft on there?

if you drop a guy, he doesn’t go through the FAAB process. Considering it’s an auction league that employs a weekly FAAB process, it doesn’t make sense

Per the screenshot in my last post, fantrax can handle that.

Kind of. RT will allow you to bid on players all week if you want.
The issue is that people want to be able to do waivers, and then be able to add players anytime once they clear waivers.
The problem is the players that are dropped during the waiver wire run. On RT and MFL, you couldn't just run waivers on guys who were dropped during the waiver wire. Once they had been dropped for 24 hours they could be freely picked up, and people didn't like that. I am thinking that's the same as the option OMT posted in his screen shot. The other alternative is to run waivers every day, and then allow whoever is left over to be picked up freely after Sunday at 8:00 am. I did that last year because of last minute injury status changes. At least you had 1 day where you could add someone without going through the waiver wire.
ESPN is the only football site i have seen that allows you to place a bid on someone who was dropped during waiver while allowing you to add free agents that cleared waivers. They don't have that as an option for basketball but they do for football.

So you can run waivers every day for players that have been dropped, while still being first come first serve on free agents that clear waivers. In my screenshot I had selected bidding for the free agent claim system, but that can be changed to first come first serve.

Yahoo allows it too I believe
I just think we should simplify it as much as possible. Do we really need a pay site
Can you run an auction draft?
Can you adjust weekly scoring?
FAAB?
Necessary roster and scoring?
And you get an app with espn. Some people like that

a few years back in a live league we did a similar set up to this but just used ESPN. The leagues operated separately, just made them publicly view-able so members each league could monitor what was going on in the other league.
ESPN continues to track scoring even when your season ends, so for the Super Bowl each owner set their line ups accordingly and kept in touch via text with screen shots as they requested scoring updates. Not quite ideal but to me was better than dealing with all of the other frustrations RT and MFL create for the entire season

does fantrax also allow you to have 2 player pools for the different conferences?
I would be fine with 2 espn leagues. Once the season starts, nobody pays attention to the other conference. Just have two leagues and make the playoffs week 12-16. Week 16 will be reserved for the superbowl.
To me, it would be a lot easier to manage.

Idk if fantrax does
I also think espn will make it very easy to manage. Everyone knows what to expect there

Plus that is $150 more in the pot. Not sure what the fantrax charge is.
I would be totally fine with fantrx but I think ESPN does what we want to do, as long as we're all cool with setting up 2 leagues instead of 1.

I’m not really a big Fantrax baw for non-dynasty leagues but I’m cool with what everyone else wants. I like ESPN and agree that not being able to see the other league isn’t the end of the world. The upgrade in FAAB system is enormous going from RTSports to ESPN.

I think this is actually better. Ive seen one league influence add/drops in the other league

Add me back to the league if we’re moving to ESPN
