Posted on 2/18/10 at 6:31 pm to GynoSandberg

I wasn't really talking him up, just stating a fact. He will have more room and won't have to settle for the shite shots that he did in SACTO. I was going to trade him until that trade went down.
this is just retarded to me.
in sacto, he could shoot as much as he wanted. he was one of two players able to play on that crappy team. he was a classic good player on a bad team stats guy.
now he's on a team that plays as a team, with varying scoring options, another shoot first point guard, a win now mentalitly, and is competing for a playoff spot.
i don't possibly see how his stock went up. i'm not trying to say he's worse. i just don't see how it's better.

You just made my point for me... Teams were doubling his frail arse because tyreke was pretty much the only other option. He had to take a lot of bad shots. Now he's on a team that can spread the floor and open things up for him. I think he's going to shine in h-town.
But hey, I'm just basing that off of what I've seen. If that is retarded to you, so be it. Time will tell if he plays better in Houston.

i'm sorry this is just not how scoring in the nba works. see monta ellis in GS. scoring in the nba is about number of shots, and being the primary scoring option on your team on any given play. when you have to take less shots/share shots your overall volume numbers drop.
on a team with less options, you can take as many shots as you like. houston has 5 guys that could score 20 a night on any given night.
his efficiency numbers might go up (shooting pctgs), but his overall points, rebounds, fta will go down. i guarantee it.

he could easily become a better player in reality while becoming a worse player in fantasy.
several good examples of this- pau gasol- memphis to la. kevin garnett- min to boston. paul pierce- when garnett joined boston.
you'll see it with antawn jamison and to a lesser extent caron butler as well. his fantasy value just dropped off a cliff, while his real player value just went up.
and for someone like kmart whose only real value is points, ftpctg and 3s, this could affect it greatly.
sharing shots does not make for good fantasy stats. look at scottie pippen's stats the years jordan didn't play, and then when MJ came back. Same player- 1st option- 2nd option. You'll be lucky if kevin martin keeps the value he has.
I'd say 75% chance his stats drop across the board (besides pctgs). 20% stay the same. 5% go up.

is that the 9th category? i am fricked
so basically you're saying points and boards will go down...he's averaging 19 a game this year. you are saying that there is a 70% chance he won't do that in houston?? lol. boards? how many was he averaging? 4? what is that going to dip to? i think he's going to average more assists, 3's, and like you said, % will probably be better. unless he drops to 12 ppg, which isn't happening, your percentages are way the frick off.
before you get all pissy, what do you think his ppg is going to drop to?

i just don't see houston acquiring him to get a scoring boost and not letting him do at least what he's had in sac-town lately
his problem since he's come back is his shooting % more than anything
he's no longer an elite fantasy guy (until proven otherwise), but he's a 4th or 5th keeper option
the telling stat will be how often he can get to the line. that's his bread and butter in fantasy

come on port. i'm hoping you were trying to get a jab on me and not that you don't understand. but just in case, good ft shooter in fantasy is only as valuable as the number of ft's he attempts. let's say you have one guy (player 1) that shoots 100% from the the line and 1 guy (player 2) who shoots 50% from the line. two different scenarios.
Player 1- 2 of 2 FT. Player 2- 5 of 10: Team Total 58%
Player 1- 10 of 10 FT. Player 2- 1 of 2: Team Total: 91%
Part of Kevin Martin's overall fantasy appeal was that not only did he shoot ft's well, but like dirk, like KD, he also took a lot of them. Shooting a high percentage a la Jose Calderon last year means dick if you don't get to the line enough to affect the overall team totals.

I think he'll average 16 and change. 3 rebounds. Less assists and a quarter of a 3 less a game. And get to the line less.

I'm not pissy at all. I'm just telling you what I'm foreseeing. If I'm right, I'd like you to acknowledge it for once. Unlike the way you treated my exact predictions on Brandon Jennings falling off a cliff for the rest of this season.

20% chance
shite it's not like he was traded to the Cavs or the Lakers.
FWIW I don't think his value will sky-rocket, I just think his % will go back up to where they were pre-tyreke.

is jennings on my team
i'll fully admit that now. fwiw i do think he's going to be a top 5 pg and more valuable than tyreke within 2 seasons.

very little chance of that happening. I'll be shocked. And I'll admit it if i'm wrong.
