Geofencing is going to take longer than that. It's up to the state to get the ball rolling

Per Yahoo:
quote:

Louisiana is still a restricted state for cash contests on Yahoo Fantasy.

quote:

Contests may not be offered there until winter/spring 2021, which could still be CFB season.

Wouldn’t put much stock to yahoo. They may not want to pay the licensing fees.

Reading that link Mid November is wishful thinking... I think it won’t happen in 2020 gambling control board will delay delay delay. We will be lucky to have it in place by the 2021 football season. This is beyond f’d up like an upside down tackle box typical louisiana politics.

Friend lives/works in Nola but office is in ATL.

When he logs on to work, he uses the work VPN(Using a VPN, you can make it appear that you’re in a different location by switching your IP address)

so while he’s working in Nola, to Draftkings, hes in ATL where it’s legal to play.

I just go to his house and place my bets, but anyone can purchase a VPN and do the same thing. Hell, you can drive to mississippi and place your bets then drive back and your good.

If the state is saying November they actually mean 2021

Just an FYI, people have been caught using VPN and they haven't paid out people before because of this. Stick to cash games, smaller tourneys if doing this.

I’ve been doing it for past 4 years. Only time I’ve heard of someone getting caught is when they log in from two different locations within a very short amount of time.

So if you use the VPN to place your bets and say the VPN has your location in Atlanta, it will raise a red flag if you try to log in 20 min later without using the VPN because you not getting from Atl to Nola in 20 min.

I place my bets on tuesday or wednesday using the VPN then I dont log back in to DK until Friday or Saturday to set my teams.

DO NOT use a vpn unless you can prove you have a residence in the state it says.

I've done this before. I don't get in contests that I could win very much (I play mostly cash and small pot GPPs), but I've always wondered what would happen if I won something significant doing that. Would I have to file a tax return in Mississippi that year?

Why? I read a little on it and doesn’t seem like a big deal?

First thing is not many actually work.

Next is if you are caught when they review transactions you are banned.

You mainly need to prove residence.
