Chargers waived RB Curtis Brinkley.
Brinkley was added from the practice squad last week to provide depth with Ryan Mathews (ankle) out. The glass half-full types would see this is as a sign that Mathews will return to action this week.

Garrett Hartley has lost his field-goal kicking duties to John Carney entering the Saints' Week 4 matchup against the Panthers.
Hartley can be dropped in all fantasy leagues. The Saints will go forward with a plan identical to last year's. Hartley will remain on the roster, but he won't be active on game days.

Citing a source close to the running back, the Baltimore Sun reports that Ray Rice "should be good" for this week's game against the Steelers.
The source indicated that Rice's injury is "not that bad" and he's "walking around like his regular self." Added the source, "He definitely could play this week — depending on how he feels and how the doctor and coaches feel." Barring a late-week setback, Rice should be safe to pencil into starting lineups for a tough matchup at Pittsburgh.

Coach Tom Coughlin confirmed that Victor Cruz will work as the No. 3 receiver while Mario Manningham (concussion) is out.
Manningham is being re-evaluated today and players often miss the week following a concussion. The Giants use plenty of three-receiver sets. Note that Manningham has been targeted 19 times already this season, just five fewer than Hakeem Nicks. Desperate owners in deep leagues should have Cruz on their radar.

How bad arse would it be to start the dude?

I'd start Ellis over Taylor, but it's been very seldom that a NE RB has had 2 productive weeks in a row.

He had a nice day versus BUFF....Miami run def is just a tad better than that.

Steven Jackson (groin) will not practice on Wednesday.
No surprise here. Although Jackson's groin is merely sore after straining it in Week 3, it's unlikely he'll test it until later in the week.

Fred Taylor (toe) was held out of Patriots practice Wednesday.
The Patriots don't play until Monday night, giving Taylor an extra day to recover. Still, his inability to return in Week 3 after suffering the third-quarter injury doesn't bode well for his chances
