Clinton Portis said he heard his left groin pop in the third quarter of Sunday's win over the Eagles.
Portis immediately went to the trainer's table, stretched himself out and then came back in for the first drive of the fourth quarter. Predictably, he aggravated the injury again and went to the locker room. Portis is set for additional tests on Monday and his availability for Week 5 is in serious doubt. Ryan Torain would be the feature back if Portis sits.

Ahmad Bradshaw was seen in the Giants' locker room Monday "limping badly" after playing through an ankle sprain in Week 4.
Bradshaw was in and out of the lineup in the second half Sunday night. He did close out the contest, but this is a reminder that Bradshaw isn't an especially good bet to hold up for 16 games. He's probably headed for some practice time off this week. The Giants face the run-tough Texans in Week 5.

Sidney Rice (hip, PUP) is still on crutches this week.
Rice said Monday that he is "hopeful" he'll be cleared to take another step in his rehab this week. He did not provide an estimated timetable for return. Rice doesn't appear to be coming along quickly after preseason hip surgery. Owners shouldn't expect him to contribute before Week 9 or 10.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher acknowledged Monday that Justin Gage (hamstring) "may miss some time."
It's the best scenario for all parties. The Titans' passing game gets a shot in the arm when Kenny Britt plays extensively, and Britt would become an every-down receiver and WR3 starter if Gage didn't play in the coming weeks. Britt has a TD in back-to-back games.

Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune predicts that Darren McFadden (hamstring) will not play in Week 5 against San Diego.
McFadden was seen "moving rather stiffly" in the Raiders' locker room on Monday. "I'm feeling alright," McFadden insisted, while saying nothing else to reporters. McDonald admits he has no inside information on the injury, but suspects that "we won't see" McFadden against the Bolts, "and possibly longer." McFadden's history of recovering slowly from all injuries supports the idea. Michael Bush could be setup for multiple starts.

Updating a previous item, the Bills reportedly called the Eagles on Marshawn Lynch, not the other way around.
Two things are becoming clear with the Bills' handling of Lynch: They are absolutely willing to trade him, and they want a desperate team to fork over at least a third-round pick in return. The Eagles aren't that desperate, and it's not in Packers GM Ted Thompson's nature to trade early-round draft picks out of desperation. Expect Lynch to remain in Buffalo unless a team meets GM Buddy Nix's seemingly prohibitive asking price.
if it's true that they are calling other teams, you may want to add him to your roster until the dusts settles

Clinton Portis (groin) said on his radio show that he "doesn't think the team would allow (him) to attempt to play Sunday."
Portis admitted to hearing his groin "pop" during Sunday's win over Philly, which certainly isn't a good sign. We don't know the extent of the injury yet, but Week 5 seems unlikely, and it's possible it could cost him multiple weeks. Ryan Torain will be the featured runner while Portis is out.

The Eagles have not yet ruled out LeSean McCoy (rib) for Week 5, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.
La Canfora also states that the Eagles are not working out any running backs because they hope to have McCoy back in 1-2 weeks. It seems very unlikely he'll suit up this weekend, and even if he does, his workload would be limited. However, the short timetable for return would seem to lessen the chances they'd go after Marshawn Lynch. Mike Bell will fill in while McCoy is out.

But I use the smaller tidbits for trading bit players who could see action because of an injury and what not

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Vikings are "very close" to acquiring Randy Moss from the Patriots.
How's that for a shocker? Per CSN New England's Tom Curran, the Pats' compensation is "rumored" to be a third-rounder. Multiple reports are now emerging to corroborate. The deal can't be finalized until the Vikings work out a new contract for Moss, which Glazer says the sides are currently addressing. Brett Favre has long pined for deep threat Moss as a teammate. It looks like he's going to get his wish, putting to rest speculation that he could walk away later this season if the Vikes don't turn it around.

Kash,
How is Favre gonna play now that his junk has been exposed? Am I the only conspiracy theorist who thinks that the Vikes traded for Moss this particular week to deflect attention from the other story?
Inquiring minds want to know.
