Sounds good. By the way, Alfred Smith is a guy going to ASU next year. He's from my alma mater...he's tiny, but a ball player.

Lol. What an ignorant statement.

Tremendous

Started as a true freshman on a team that finished 13-0 in the regular season.

He had a touchdown catch and run against Kentucky that showcased his ability in the open field.

He had a catch in the national title game where he is so high above Dre Kirkpatrick, it's crazy.

In his first game as a sophomore, he returned a punt for a TD against North Texas.

That same year, he had a punt return for a TD that won the game against Ole Miss -- eerily similar to that of the great Billy Cannon punt return for a TD.

In 2013, you really started to see him blossom.

But he also had major frickups during the most crucial times of games. And early on with the Giants, he did frick up with the same mental hiccups. But none really since.

i love that Todd Graham is extending his recruiting to the southeast. I'm looking forward to seeing the kid at ASU. Im sure he'll bulk up too.

Really neither were the number 1. They took turns having the big game their last years. OBJ contributed earlier on offense though while Landry was eased in more on special teams.

Landry injured his foot in Fall camp prior to their freshman season.

I don't understand the laughing. He's near the top in almost every receiving category for LSU. He would have needed a season like his sophomore year to attain most of them. Based on what he's doing against NFL dbs, he would have made it easily.

who's going to throw it to him? Jennings? that's why i'm laughing, not laughing at OBJ

I agree with you there. He would have been able to go up and compete for some balls. We may have run something other than go routes with Beckham, but probably not. The anti pick six offense has not been very effective. It's time for a new 5 year plan.

THIS is what I like to see. I would have loved to see this Week 3 when I was asking around instead of just my intuition + draft position

Agree there.
The fumble at Florida after the long catch in 2012 doomed us, that and Kevin Minter having to sit a few plays out for cramps.
We win that game and the bama game would have been a 1 vs 2 game. Winner gets ND in the championship.

He also fumbled a punt on our 20 yard line after we finally stopped UGA late in the 3rd quarter after we had just tied the game up. Big shift in momentum.

The frick ups is why I stayed away, and I'm of course looking like an idiot now.

The first game on national tv, maybe against the Colts(?), he fumbled a punt and on a quick screen he batted the ball around and right into a defender's arms -- who dropped it.

But i was thinking if he does things like that, Coughlin is going to sit him.

Of course, I also didn't realize he was going to be the best received in football from that point on, and he also hasn't fricked up since.

Seems like he cleaned off his slate from his college days and his first game as a rookie quite admirably.

He and Landry both had 1k+ yards receiving last year, with multiple capable RBs in the backfield. How is that underutilized?

With that offensive makeup I don't know how he could've been much more productive than he was. There's only one ball.

How'd they do their first 2 years at LSU? Last time I checked, they both played at LSU their freshman and sophomore seasons.

To be clear, I'm taking a shot at les miles and the offense, not Landry and Beckham

There's a great story that both Jarvis and Odell would tell you about if you ask them, about their maturation process from their sophomore seasons to their junior seasons.

In short, during a practice in fall camp of junior year, Jarvis had enough of the wide receivers being pushed around by the defensive backs in practice.

2011: Beckham had 41 catches for 475 yards and 2 TDs as the #2 receiver behind randle who had 53 catches for 973 and 8 TDs.
Landry played mostly special teams and had only 4 catches for 43 yards.

2012:
Beckham had 43 catches for 713 yards and 2 TDs.
Landry had 56 catches for 573 yards and 5 TDs.

Those aren't terrible numbers for freshmen and sophomores.

Yeah, players get better the longer they're in college.

I never said they were terrible. I said they were underutilized, which they were, in their first 2 seasons

Based on what he's doing against NFL dbs, he would have made it easily.

It's funy because he would've had Jennings throwing to him and Calvin Johnson and Odell couldn't make him look good.
