How bad did AJ Brown look on Sunday?

Maye was trying his best to get AJ involved, but he just couldn't catch the ball.

As a guy who probably overdrafted AJ, I really hope he can knock the rust off before Maye loses confidence in him.

I was expecting some rust. He hasn't played in over 4 weeks and only had 3 practices before this game, all in limited fashion. I'm assuming some of it was just being out of sync with in-game speed / conditions. He did get a ton of targets (10 in total) and it was clear they wanted to push the ball his way.

Overall, I am encouraged. Very glad I didn't need more than 5 points from him to win my matchup

Only problem now is he gets 3 days to get ready for TNF...

I did the AJ Brown experience in '24 and '25. He was significantly worse last year. I was avoiding him all together this year.

As you know, I was not.

I get it. From the outside looking in, it seemed like a slam dunk pick. If you didn't pay close attention to him, there isn't really any way to see the decline (if there really is one).

I have Maye and tried to get AJ to pair with him, but didn't. I still think AJ will turn it around. He had some drops that could have helped him to a respectable performance. Like someone else mentioned, he wasn't a full participant in practice leading up to his 1st game back.

He had some ugly drops but he was consistently getting open. Nearly had a 60 yard TD that seemed like just slightly off timing.

I’d be more concerned if it was the other way around and he was catching passes but couldn’t get separation. Those target numbers alone are pretty juicy and easy to bet for a reason to imagine he figures out the drops issue

After playing so long with Hurts, he was probably surprised when the ball hit him in the hands, as well as how quickly it got there.
