Ok..I've never been a round 1 QB guy.

Let's hear the arguments for/against taking Rodgers over one of the "big 3", if you have a top 3 pick.

Based on ADP, is it better to have:
QB-Rodgers
RB-Stephen Jackson/Jamaal Charles
WR-Mike Wallace/AJ Green/Julio/Marshall.

or:

QB-Vick/Cam/Stafford
RB-McCoy/Foster/Rice
WR-Wallace/Green/Julio/Marshall

/ = or

ETA---All leagues I'm in are 12 team, PPR, 6 TDs/QB

depends on scoring and # of people in your league.

My thoughts-

With QB being as deep as it is, here are two scenarios to compare:

QB top 3, RB in 8th round

OR

RB in top 3, QB in 8th round

Rogers/(Jonathan Stewart or J Best or CJ Spiller)

OR

Foster/(Eli or Phil Rivers)

Which would you rather? Give me the 2nd option all day

I would want this team but if your'e picking in the top 3 (only way you would get Rodgers/Rice/Foster) You won't get Stafford or Cam on the back swing.

I'm just showing two scenarious holding rounds constant. The level of Qb still available in the 8th is a top 7-8 QB. The value of WR/RB in the 8th is not good at all as I wouldn't feel comfortable starting any of them. Drafting a QB in the first puts you in constant catch up mode. I'd rather be able to wait until 7th/8th to draft a quality QB starter than go with a QB early and draft a WR/RB in the 7th/8th and need him to start when he isn't starter caliber.

I haven't seen Cam or Staff go in the 2nd in any of my mocks yet

This is my philosophy. However, if qbs get 6 points for TDs I would probably go for Rodgers early.

This is true, but I've never played in a league that gave QBs 6 pts

There are none, barring some whacky scoring setup.

take yahoo projected based on your scoring

if AR+SJAX>RR+STAFFORD...then AR, if not then RR

it's all about which combination of starters will give you the highest production...based on where and who you can grab.

With 6 points for a passing TD, the top three draft picks should be Rogers/Brees/Brady IMO.
If it's 4 points, I'd take Rogers over anyone but Foster/Rice. Him and McCoy is a toss up IMO

Yea missing out on a good RB hurts this year, but having Rogers puts you WAY ahead of most of your league, and the guys who take Brees/Brady will have to catch up as well. You will just have to draft smart and take some RB's later with great upside and hope one pans out.

FYI: I did a mock draft and in the first three rounds I got
Aaron Rogers
Matt Forte
Steven Jackson

So depending on how fantasy savvy the guys you are drafting with are, it can work out

In this draft Gronk went in the first, Cam/Graham went second, Forte got back to me and I was like hell yea, and then Steven Jackson came in the third I was like WTF, I wish I could keep this team

eta: you can probably go
Rogers
Jackson/Charles/McFadden
AP (make sure to get Gerhart as well)

But is that better than getting say
McCoy
then lots of options in round #2 and #3 Jackson/AP/Fitzgerald maybe/MAYBE Graham/Gronk
then get Rivers/Romo in the 6th or 7th

/ means or btw

I took Stafford in the 2nd of one of my mocks (QB heavy league) and realized it was too early. It hurt my RB situation too much. I am sticking top 3 QB in round 1 if available or wait til at least the third, if not later. Cam went in the 3rd of that same mock.
