Little man killed his first deer earlier this year. I killed two bucks. One I probably should have let walk and another I was after for several weeks. Weather sucked this year, but they still rutted. Gotta go pick up the first batch of sausage this weekend.

I bought a place with a partner in STX. We decided to let all bucks walk this year. I had all 3 kids plus wife in the blind with me to shoot the doe. Watched a 6 then 8 then 10 walk plus a 4 and couple spike mill around before the doe finally came out. Kids loved it, especially watching me clean the doe. Little killers!

I would have probably taken Witt over Abrams at 4, but was thrilled to see Abrams fall to me at 7.

You definitely can, but back then we were hunting trophy bucks.

Man, I'm jealous. Managing in South Texas should pay off. For us, sightings of mature bucks have increased significantly over the last few years. If y'all are selective/disciplined y'all will have some impressive bucks in a couple years. Send me some pictures if you get the chance. I'm sure the kids will love it.

I've seen the deer you and your brother killed over there. Pretty impressive.

Yeah, we were spoiled kids. None of that was high fence either. My dad is focusing more on his property in MS now and guiding in New Mexico.

Sure thing...I've got 16 cuddelink cams set up and we've got some nice racks running around. We also have turkeys, quail, pigs galore, and we built a a 20 acre lake which we're selling frac water out of for now, but held ducks when the water was up. This was our first year really using it. I bought if for my kids to experience and so far so good.

Hell yeah. That'll get em off the XBox. I can only imagine the turkeys y'all have. Developing a place is as much fun as hunting it IMO. Boo, where is your dad's place in Mississippi?

I was hoping Rutschman would fall to me but I'm sort of glad you fell on the grenade. Catchers are such a crap shoot.

That's a man. Y'all are gonna have too much fun there.

Looks like a 150 class minimum.

Looks like y'all have put hog fencing up. Might as well get a thermal scope while you're at it.

Got it. We started hunting the Cochina ranch just to the west of Cotulla then switched to what is now the El Quinto ranch between Cotulla and Freer. Drove down through George West many times back then.

Near Natchez, but I haven't been to his new property yet, he is building it out currently.
