The only thing I can see that might work is going to FAAB and having only two days (Monday morning and Thursday morning) where claims are processed.

Quit stealing my ideas and passing them off as your own.

I'm a pretty big fan of FAAB, and either have it run Monday/Thursday, or Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

I've said weekly FAAB a few times and free agency can stay open a day or two

Teams can add pitching then for the week if they need it

I'll research it when the season ends. I don't want to toggle with the settings too much while the season is still going on. I'll report back with my findings. Also adding it to the OP for future reference.

Ty gent

Even if it's shot down I'd at least like to say we tried. I'd like to think the many owners that do it only do so bc they can, but really would prefer a better system

You play to win... if that means streaming a SP or two, I'm not going to fault anyone for doing whatever they think will help their team win. I'll also laugh mercilessly when it backfires and Pivetta gets hammered.

Things to factor in if that switch is made:

If you get a run of injuries, it could result in some teams having lineups with injured players in their starting lineups until the next waiver period rolls. I could see that pissing people off late in the year during a playoff push.

There is a decent chance that happens.

I'd be all for bi-weekly FAAB next season.

That will be partially mitigated by increasing the DL spots, but still a concern.

I think a pretty small concern, as it would have to be positions that aren't backed up very well, and would only be for a few days.

And that same thing happened this season as well, sometimes it's just part of the game.

That's all great. Its within the rules

I'm trying to shed light on the underlying issue here.

I brought up a few last time this came up. Changing IP would be a start

Not a fan of FAAB. We used it this year in DAT and its a pain in the arse if you are trying to fill a position on offense because you have no idea if a guy is starting, or will miss a game because of injury when it goes off at 10am in the morning.

And as far as streaming being a "mindless" activity, what do you call adding guys to your offensive lineup everyday? You start guys who are playing and pray.

It's like whining when you are down 21 in a football game and pissed because the other team keeps trying for 40 yard pass completions and running hurry up. You are just trying to win.

Who streams offense? Outside of a strategic pick to click every once and awhile. You can't blindly stream hitters without consequence. You stream a hitter and he goes 0-4, you hurt. You steam an SP who goes 5 IP 5 ER, maybe he gets 7 K.. you're ERA is already fricked but it actually benefits you in IP and K/9

People only stream when their ratios are wrecked. It's mindless bc they already lost those cats and the skill level of the pitcher you're throwing is irrelevant. You can theoretically stream 7 SPs and blindly win IP going away and luck into a QS or two

What's the point of throwing together a highly competitive 20 team league when games are being decided by streamed pitchers with 5 ERAs. There is a disconnect there. I don't think the mission statement of the league was who can stream the most nick pivettas

I get what youre saying, but you cant change categories in a 20 team league because you built your team to win another way. You play to win by the rules assigned and this was the rule when people drafted their teams. Its absurd that there were people who came in here not knowing that IP was a category after they already drafted.

I mean, we technically can... there is a procedure in the rules to change the rules. It will require a 2/3 vote (so, 14/20 rounding up) in the off-season.

I don't want to change any categories

IP is an fine category if it isn't exploitable. It's designed to reward good pitchers who go deep in games not a guy who can stream 25 IP
