Only the minor league roster spots were approved.

I've been advocating for that papzy

You literally accrue points and win games with MLB guys. Ultimately that's why we are playing. I asked at the time why anyone wouldn't vote to increase spots and got nothing
But the same people want to sit there and admire their prospects from the bottom of the standings
You play
To win
The game!
Let us play and you can still keep your prospects
Losers!

Need more roster spots. I feel like some teams are forced to cut quality players or trade at a discounted rate because they have good team and/or farm system.
Isn't that the point? This league rewards the better lineup managers. So I disagree with you. Maybe 5-7 rosters in this 20-team league are deep enough that they have a tough decision of who to drop every time a DL guy gets healthy. And almost all of those teams, if not all, are probably already playoff teams or at least competing for top 8. Shouldnt be adding roster spots after year 3 just to cater to the better/deeper teams in the league by making their roster management decisions easier for them, imo.

Increasing the DL slots solves this guys. It's pretty simple.

Is there some type of league that doesn't reward better lineup managers? This isn't about DL being activated for me nor is this some sort of sudden idea that's being brought up after year 3 to cater to myself or anyone else. It was mentioned last season as well. I was in favor of expanding rosters from the get go. I just think it's silly that eventually I'll have punt a category cutting relievers or trade at a disadvantage in order to accomdate minor league players onto my major league squad. How's that for rewarding?

there's a barry roster joke in there somewhere

Gotta love a team not setting lineups while teams are fighting for playoff positioning
and there are multiple teams, not just Barry

Yap.
and to be clear, I'm not coming down on Barry. But this is an issue that's been beaten to death in this league. Team A makes a trade to acquire four players from Team B and gives away two.
More than 24 hours post trade, Team A has not dropped a player to accommodate.
Happens a lot in this league.

The player pool is already thin as shite. Increasing roster sizes is not needed. Increasing dl slots maybe
Posted on 7/22/17 at 5:19 pm to MrWiseGuy
I've given up on saying shite at this point
You can't even expect owners to pay attention daily in a daily lineup fantasy baseball league

Ron I never understand the player pool argument
The players out there are now on your team w a bigger roster
What's it matter?

quote:C'mon. The shallower the league the less in season roster management is needed. Thats just common knowledge. A 20-team dynasty with more advanced scoring categories rewards in season roster management a lot more than standard 10-12 team standard leagues, don't ya think? Often times you can get away with a great draft, a few key moves and staying relatively healthy in those leagues. There is a reason why this league has 40+ offseason trades months before Spring Training starts.

You're in first place. Me saying this league rewards better roster managers should be a compliment to you. Maybe its luck you're ranked up there?

And it was voted on and shot down by majority of owners. Want us to vote on it every year?
Its a difference of opinion, that's it. Increasing injury slots is needed because that can kill a team - removing a regular starter on your team for weeks at a time isn't up to the owner in that case. But playoff teams complaining because they have a tough decision to make when a milb player hits his limits and needs to be called up? Please. Make the tough decision. If you're right enough times, you'll be rewarded in the standings. If you're wrong, we get the great posts about "I wish so & so was still on my team" which usually starts a couple pages of discussion. But increasing roster spots to help make that decision easier on owners? No thanks. I'm not in favor of training wheels for the few teams (definitely not majority of teams) with enough depth that they have to complain about making room for their prospects being called up.

Rondo the player pool is fine and actually fairly deep considering this leagues size. Someone did it a few weeks ago but there have been a ton of gems found on the wire this year and in years past
Posted on 7/22/17 at 5:57 pm to Lester Earl
Profar gonna be a gem imo

I don't play in any shallow leagues but that's a fair point.
Expanding minor league roster size was shot down multiple times before passing. Increasing DL slots was shot down multiple times as well and looks like a sure bet to pass this upcoming season. Do we stop voting on certain things once it's shot down? Should we not add DL slots next season? You certainly don't have to vote if you don't want to. If I see a reason to bring something up to make the league better, I will... whether it'll pass or not. What difference does it make whether I'm a playoff team or not? I suggested this last season while I sucked. I suggested this the year before, while I sucked. I only have one MiLB player that's eligible for promotion and I can just move him onto my active roster by interchanging him with Oh. This isn't even a problem for me.
It's a dynasty league. Large rosters, both MLB and MiLB, are very common... if not the norm.

Typical TBM move.
If they are doing well.... try to manipulate rules to make it hard for teams in the doldrums to improve
If they are failing.... quit the league and start a new league that drafts three months before the season starts
