neither Jones nor Goodson are worth a roster spot, even if you have DMC...and I do in one league

yeah...I never EVER get the handcuff argument. Putting an average player (not saying these guys are average) on your Roster when you could just play another guy who is likely significantly better just doesn't seem smart. Obvious exceptions are guys like Ben Tate who are in a great system and are pretty damn good themselves.

Michael Bush may be another decent one in addition to Tate.

Mark my words, Doug Martin will be starting sometime early this year. Don't see why people are passing him up.

You mean from Week 1?

And who is passing him up? He's getting drafted in the 4th/5th round in most leagues.

I'd say Tate, Bush, Jennings, and Spiller are worth grabbing as handcuffs, but all of them except maybe Jennings is worth a flex start even if their starter isn't hurt.

If the starter does well, then the Back-up will do well...it's about scheme and O-line

Samkon Gado
On November 13, 2005, Gado started his first NFL game against the Atlanta Falcons. He responded to the challenge with an outstanding performance that instantly turned him into a household name for Packer faithful. Gado rushed 23 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a one-yard touchdown pass from Brett Favre, as the Packers won 33-25. Gado received the NFL Rookie of Week 10 award for the game. Gado became the first player in NFL history to score three touchdowns on his 23rd birthday.

Larry Johnson/Derek blaylock
Blaylock scored four rushing touchdowns in one game for the Kansas City Chiefs as Priest Holmes' backup on October 24, 2004.

Johnathan Wells- 98 yards 2 TDs
The Texans were without running back Domanick Davis (swollen knee), but backups Wells and Morency filled in nicely, combining for 119 yards rushing.. They won it by jumping to a 24-10 halftime lead with a combined three touchdowns from backup running backs Jonathan Wells and Vernand Morency

Pierre Thomas- after Deuce went down

Leshon McCoy- Westbrook was different?

Ray Rice- like McCoy, people were writing off the small back

Michael Turner- after LT went down

Sproles- after LT went down

Michael Pittman- a bunch of times

Justin Fargas-. Jordan started the 2007 season with 350 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the first three games. He injured his back against the Miami Dolphins. Justin Fargas took over after LaMont Jordan became injured and had a 1,000-yard season, rushing for 1,009 yards on 222 carries and four touchdowns.

Demarco Murray..anyone...Tashard Choice a season before, Demarco Murray last season...Felix posted great numbers when He started and finished a game...but he got hurt a ton.

Arian Foster....hello....Steve Slaton put up 1600 yards and 10 tds as a rookie(2008). Slaton gets hurt the next year and an UFDA Foster comes up in 2009 like the last 3 weeks of the season and puts up 100 and 2 tds in each game.

the backups you don't want are those on poor running teams

If the starter isn't running well, the the back-up will have very similar results. When has the back-up done significantly better?

ie
shon greens backup
BGE's back-up
Trent Richardson's backup
Beanie Well's backup
