In a standard 10 man league would you say Ekeler is about as safe and solid of a pick you could make? Or do you gamble and take Jefferson or Chase on hope to gab 2 viable backs in round 2 & 3?

He is safe at 5, but he is due for a major TD regression.

Wasn’t ekeler tops or close to it for RB receptions last year?

I hate this philosophy. Eck is due to exceed his last years stats if he stays healthy. Nothing has changed other than another year in the system.

It’s just a clever term people use these days. Is anyone ahead of him not due for “TD regression”? Taylor, Kupp, healthy CMC, healthy Henry?

I’m out on ekeler @5 in a standard league. He’s also got an expensive handcuff.

No it’s not. Isaiah Spiller is making a huge push for playing time and is the clear handcuff. He’s a rookie from A&M.

He’s not making a huge push.

Ekeler said he lost 11lbs from the beginning of the season to the end last year. They are looking for someone to help ease the burden and both Spiller and Kelly will split backup duties.

Spiller and Kelley are both terrible RBs

Yep, but Ekeler will be spelled more this year to keep him healthy. I’d say Kelly first and then Spiller.

They drafted a running back in the 4th round and coaches/Ekeler himself have talked about cutting down Ekeler's workload. Could be something, could be nothing.

You're not wrong in that screaming "TD regression!!" isn't super useful. Always best to quantify it using projected workload, role, etc...But I would say Ekeler is due for significant TD regression. He had 20 of them last year, including 8 receiving TDs which is way out of whack with a typical running back's low aDOT. I'd guess he scores 10-12 this year, which is still good, but brings him more into the same tier as Derrick Henry and Dalvin Cook instead of in a tier of his own behind Taylor and CMC.

In a standard league I think my rankings would look something like this:

1) Taylor
2) CMC
3) Henry
4) Cook
5) Ekeler
6) Kupp
7) Jetts
8) Chase
9) Mixon
10) Najee

So yea, Ekeler at 5 would be good imo. Jetts or Chase is fine too, but think I'd rather have the running back in a standard league.

"As far as my load, maybe it can be altered a little bit, but I don't think it will go down." - Ekeler

Staley/Lombardi offers no suggestion of a reduced workload. His workload is already managed

Kelley is the #2. The rookie hasn’t done anything yet to move the needle in that regards.
