All ideas welcome

Load up a pinata with the numbers 1-12 and a bunch of marbles.

Get anywhere from 2-4 kegs, split between 12 people.

Finish the kegs and give everyone one swing at the pinata until it opens. Every man for himself

Our Commish had a good idea.

He is randomly assigning each of us (10 man league) a NASCAR driver. (Out of the top 10 drivers in standings). Then we find out our drivers the night before the Pocono race(next weekend I believe) and however our drivers place against one another is how we draft.

Pretty cool IMO. Also we have done all owners do NCAA Basketball Bracket and how we place is where we draft.

We put all the league members names into a hat and draw. First guy drawn chooses his draft slot, second guy chooses his spot of the remaining spots and down the line from there. I don't like people knowing their draft position predraft so we do this right before the draft so people have to prepare for all draft slots.

Meh, we go by worse record. However, it's a choice order, so last place gets first pick of their draft number and so on.

Everyone in the league buys a different fish from the pet store.

Then you drop all the fish into a tank with a Piranha.

Whosever fish is consumed first will pick last ect ect. The last fish to survive has the first pick.

We play drinking games (relay/beer pong hybrid). My friend is doing something new for divisions this year as well. It was in Matthew Berry's new book. The first and second place teams do a draft, picking who they want in their division.

Quote from his book about it, "I'll take Keith, the human black hole. Where running backs go to die." "That's fine. Gimme Charlie. He just sucks."

Looking very much forward to it.

We might do a Draffle this year. Based on last years standings, you get your name in a hat a certain amount of times. First place last year gets 12 names in the hat and last place gets their name in the hat once.

You can buy raffles to get your name put in the hat more times. Raffles are $3 each, but they can be whatever. Once your name is drawn, you get to pick your draft position. The money earned can go toward anything league related; the winnings, trophy improvements, draft board...

This is what we do:

Play a beer pong tourney for draft positions. 1v1. winner's bracket get 1-6, loser's bracket get 7-12. Play again in brackets. all players get to pick from a hat for picks 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 based on how they finished in the tourney.

If you win twice, you get either pick 1,2,3. If you lose twice you get pick 10,11,12. And also the 6 in the middle: win-lose get 4,5,6. Lose-win get 7,8,9.

Opening match ups are chosen from a hat randomly.

This makes it part skill and part luck.

We're bowling for draft position. Everyone bowled 3 games to get a handicap, and we all bowl 3 more the day before the draft. Whoever gets the highest score picks the position they want first, and it goes from there.

My league plays a free fantasy football playoff contest (real NFL playoffs). The winner gets first choice of his draft position, 2nd place = 2nd choice and so on.

We have a plus 3 draft order, not a snake (10 teams). So if you pick first in the first round, you pick 4th in the second and 7th in the third.

Way better than picking out a hat, plus we know our draft positions ahead of time so we can plan some sort of draft strategy - at least for the first few rounds until the beer kicks in.

In one of my leagues we have an auction on draft spots, it throws more money in the pot.

In a second, it looks like we are going to do something new this year. Draw cards for spot selection. Person who gets the ace picks his spot, then the 2 and so on.
