Some leagues allow you to pick your draft spot. Sometimes based upon the prior year's record.

Yeah, some will say you can win from anywhere. But the #1 position has it's advantages as you can get the projected dominant RB and start with a distinct advantage at a position that tapers off very quickly. With virtually few exceptions, drafters picking first overall win more often than any other draft slot.

We all can't get that and there's some questions about any of the top RBs this year due to past injuries, roles etc. But there are some studies out there that suggest the earlier the better, particularly in the later rounds as talent starts to drop off. Seems like 1-8 is where you want to be this year. If you have to draft at the tail, #11 is probably going to produce a better outcome than 9, 10, or 12.

So whatcha got for 2021? Where would you want to be and why? Where would you not want to be and why?

Good luck!

I’ve only recently started doing mocks, but for whatever reason I seem to like the teams that I draft at 4 and 10. These are 12 team PPR Mocks.

I have the exact same dilema. Our league is like this.

I came in 4th last year in a 10 team, 2 QB, PPR league. So I will most likely get to choose from picks 4-10.

I still cant decide if I want to stay at 4 and get one of Mahomes, CMC, Cook, or Allen. Or drop back to 7 and wait for Kamara, Henry, or Murray, and get a better player on the turn.

It seems like I've had more success mocking from 7 than 4.

Hmm..In that format, I'd probably shoot for 4 and go for Allen or Mahomes. CMC will be gone.

I have a choice of 10,11 or 12 in a 12 team PPR league. Looking like 11 mocks a little better.

We’ve had our same 14 man .5 PPR team for 7 years now. For shits and giggles I went back and looked to see which pick in the draft each champion had. All 7 years it was a top 4 pick. Could be coincidence but having that for sure heavy hitter is a big advantage. I always liked being at the very beginning or very end, being in the middle gets you a very average team. Usually if I’m at the end I’ll get back to back elite WRs but it’s a risky strategy as you’re not going to be great at rb unless you hit on a sleeper or take advantage of an injury

Agree. In the mocks I’ve done at 10 or 11 you’re looking at Aaron Jones, Eckler. Possibly Kelsey. Top WR like Hill, Adams and Hopkins. RB coming back are lean. CEH, Jacobs, Carson maybe.

This is what I'm thinking, but even in our format a good RB is still premium.

Mahomes, Lamar, and Dak were all gone by pick 5 last year. The teams that finished at the top, drafted 8 & 9 where Cook & Henry fell to them.

It's better to luck out with QB, imo.
I picked Herbert off waivers last year, but I know that's not guaranteed every year.
We also do point per completion, so it helps to have a qb with a shite defense that plays from behind, which is easier to get in the later rounds.

All that said, I'll probably stay at 4 and hope Mahomes/Allen falls to me. Maybe scoop up Ekeler or Chubb on the backturn.

My only fear is if CMC, Mahomes, Allen go 1,2,3.
Because I really don't view Cook as cut above Henry & Kamara... So I get a similar RB, but lose 2 spots on the backturn.

In a 12 team I think I'd grab the earliest spot and get the best value. You're not losing much on the backturn with picks 10 & 15, versus picks 12 & 13.

I will say though in that format I'd def rather somewhere near the back of the order. The wait from 1 to 24 is way too long.

This year? Anywhere in the top 6, probably 4-6. Guarantees one of those bellcow RBs (Saquon, Zeke, Henry) and you should be able to get a stud WR (Hopkins, Diggs, Ridley) or another RB might slide (Jones, Akers). I really don’t like drafting past 8 where you’re staring at Jonathan Taylor as the highest ranked RB on the board for your first pick.

LOL! I'm not sure Taylor even makes it that far.

I went ahead and picked #10. From the mocks done, looking at the likes of Ekler, A. Jones, or possibly having to go WR (Diggs or Hill), possibly Kelce. Scary times!

I’m picking #7 in my big league and every mock I’ve done except 1 or 2 has Taylor as BPA when my pick comes along and I don’t like him there. If someone in front of me takes Taylor and I get Zeke, I’m golden.

Recent FSGA Experts Draft

Link to board and entire results below article.

Takeaways in listening to them comment on Sirius XM Radio:

RBs drying up much more than usual. Hog 'em up!

Zeke rocketing up the board, pushing Top 3 conversation these days.

Chubb/Ekler/A. Jones getting more love at the tail.

Kelce is a viable 1. Pair with Gibson coming back.

Top Tier QBs are going higher than the "wait until late to get your QB Crowd" this year. Wilson/Herbert/Tannehill are viable.

WR depth is much higher than usual this year.

If you don't get a Top 3 TE, look to punt the position around 8-10 with the likes of Fant, Firkser, Goddert.

Their really isn’t one in any season IMO.

You win drafts by getting your mid round picks right IMO.

yeah. don't completely screw up your 1st rounder (or avoid major injuries) and nail your late rounders. average drafting and FA acquisitions otherwise will get you a great team if you do those other 2 parts

I'm noticing one thing this year in mock drafts...

Traditionally, the pundits say "Wait Until The Later Rounds" to get your QB. That may still work this year, but the pickings might be of the likes of Tannehill, Brady, Stafford, or rookies like Trevor Lawrence. Not that they aren't capable, but there are some question marks.

Seems like 6-7 is the most you wait, and you'd want to probably target Wilson or Herbert. I wouldn't be adverse to targeting Allen around the 4th this year for example.

Think you'll want to pay up for a QB this year.

QBs are loaded this year.

Mahomes
Kyler
Allen
Dak
Lamar
Herbert
Wilson
Tannehill
Brady
Rodgers
Burrow
Stafford

The only way you gonna struggle with a QB in a twelve team league is if you really wait and let people snipe backups before you get your guy
