so if you're in an 8 team league you might as well auto-draft?

does everyone finish in 1st place in an 8 team league?

Yes, everyone finishes first in an 8 team league.

Every team should be stacked if the owners arent maygars

get the frick out w/ that shite. the only position that goes 8 deep w/ elite talent is pitching. all other positions have tiers. yes every team will be stacked compared to a team in a 16 team league, but to say that every position is 8 deep and the players are all going to produce the same is retarded as shite

Catcher- Mauer, VMart, Posey, McCann, Santanna, Soto, Napoli, Montero... there are 8 guys who won't be much different in most cats

1B- Pujols, Teix, Votto, Howard, Miggy, AGon, Prince, Morneau, Dunn, Morales, Konerko, Youk.. 12 elite 1B, 8 teams

2B- Kinsler, Uggla, Cano, Pedroia, Utley, Weeks, Phillips, Prado... 8 stud 2B

3B- Longo, Zimmerman, Wright, Arod, Bautista, Beltre, Aram, McGehee, Reynolds, Alvarez.. 10 3B

SS- Hanley, Tulo, Reyes, Rollins... weakest position. half the league gets elite guys

OF- too many to list

SP- too many to list

RP- too many to list

Of course there are tiers. There would be tiers even if it was a 2 team league. Someone has to be the best. These guys are elite for their position, which is why your silly maygar 8 team league will suck. It's for people who don't know shite.

exactly, thats why its all relative. it might sound funny for someone in an 8 team league to say there are shallow positions, but i would rather have mauer instead of montero. the differences in stats between player 1 & player 8 are what would make a position shallow. don't know how this is hard to understand?

8 team leagues aren't for people who don't know shite, they are for people who only have 8 people who want to play. i didn't have to come to a message board and suck dick to get in a league.

I'm in a 14 team auction league, and I've literally budgeted a maximum of $5 for catchers. Once you miss out on the very top, you can pretty much get anybody and be ok.

Shortstop, OTOH, miss out on the top guys and you are looking at a guy who will destroy your lineup. Due to positional scarcity, I value Tulo and Hanley almost as muich as Pujols.

I'm terrified of being stuck with Stephen Drew like I always am. And he's one of the better options.

Then every position is shallow. Someone has to have the best stats, naturally, and someone will be below him. You're picking straws.

You're going to blow a 1st round pick on mauer and I'm going to get montero in the 6th. You get slighty better stats and I get to spend my picks 1-5 on someone wholl make an impact.

Pretty much. In every league u look at the disparity of every position and decide which position is scarce, relatively. no one with a brain is taking mauer in the first round. the best example this year would be if u have the 6th pick and someone like tulo and votto are available. votto is slightly better in almost every category , but i'm gonna take tulo and take adrian gonzalez w/ my 12th pick. why? position scarcity.

I think you're right, though. it is easier for someone who doesn't know what they are doing to draft and have a good team in an 8 team league, but there are still strategies in an 8 team league.
