I think Kelley is easily the best arm in that pan in terms of getting the results. The only problem is Dusty Baker.

2016 Shawn Kelley:

30.8% K-BB%
2.11 SIERA

The only dudes who finished ahead of Shawn Kelley in either category were Miller, Jansen, Diaz, Betances, Chapman, and Britton.

2016 Shawn Kelley was literally elite. Like I said, I think he is the best in terms of getting results.

I forgot one. After a big spring and Kang not allowed back, contact specialist Adam Frazier gets enough at-bats to win the NL batting title.

The last rookie to win a batting title was Ichiro, who was far from a standard rookie. In other words, that ain't happening. I know you're trying to be bold but come on man.

He's also the only one out that group that throws 92 and not 97-99 with a devastating out pitch. Due for a regression.

Guess who does throw 97 with great stuff? Glover. It's only a matter of time

He may not throw fire, but his SwSt% is over 14.7% each of the past three years. That's elite and not something you can luck into. On the leaderboards for 2016 he is nestled between Miller and Betances in swinging strike rate.

I think whoever wins that job will be a bargain, but Kelley is really good. I wish Dusty would hurry up and announce who will get the gig.

There are some flakes with good swst%, to be fair. Kelley has a little Mark Lowe to him. He did give up 13 ER in 19.1 IP in the 9th inning last year w/ 168 OPS+ - he just may be better suited as as set up guy as he was lights out in the 8th.

Glover is raw in his own right, but he has impressive numbers himself and a FB that averages 97

TBH the Nats closer may not even be on their squad right now

Fair enough. I didnt realize that. I guess i really only remember NYY Kelley. I wonder if he changed something when he stopped being a bum.

I had some bad predictions this year. I really whiffed hard on most of them. I think the only two below were the only decent ones out of 16. Woof

quote:

A Marlin hits 30 homers for his first time, and it is not Yelich or Ozuna. Justin Bour pops 33 and only trails Stanton on his team.

Bour was having a good season up until getting hurt. I think he would have popped 30 if healthy.

quote:

Familia fails to record a single save this year after Addison Reed steals the job when Familia gets suspended.

I will take it. Sure, health ended up being a big issue, but I think Reed proved he was the best arm in the pen and had plenty of value prior to being traded.
