DO you think its possible Trump might cut back on the insane regulations for the transportation industry?

The regulations in this industry make it harder and harder for trucking companies.

WE can only hope that he can do something to remove the diesel engine tier requirements that are driving costs up like crazy and not doing anything to improve engine fuel economy. It is clamping down hard on the marine industry right now.

EPA has been following CARB/CAFE as far as emissions goes. Tiered diesel engines hurt a lot of people. I know many guys who went out of business because they couldn't afford to fix or buy new shite

I wish he could mandate tort reform with lower liability limits to help eliminate these jackpot jury awards.

Im in 3PL and its a continuous problem. Drivers call saying his truck shut down because the sensor for the emissions thing came on and shut it down. i want to say it runs like 3K-5K to get it swapped out.

If there is one thing I am certain Trump will do it is reign in the regulatory world in order to create a sensible business environment...

By the way, EPA has more to do with CAFE standards than DOT does...

Getting lax on environmental regulations is pretty much the only thing that scares me. I know it hurts some industries by making things more expensive, but this is important guys. We need to keep our world healthy.

Obviously I havent dont any research on these regulations and their effects so I dont know their full influence and the cause for concern for this specific issue, but I do a lot of work with mobile source emissions on projects and am invested in it.

A 3516 CAT will require an SCR unit to scrub the exhaust using def that will be approximately 12ft long 5ft wide and 3ft thick weighing 3k lbs. You will now need a urea tank capable of holding 10% of fuel capacity plus the tank will need to be at least stainless steel since it is so corrosive. It also breaks down with head and cold... not good combo on steel vessel. All this plus a 20% + increase in engine package cost. We simply don't have room in our current 100 ft ship docking tug design to accommodate the system. People scrambling to build new vessels they don't need/have work for to get ahead of tier bullshite. Phases in at different dates based on horsepower.

Incentives instead of punishments. Different economic policy promoting growth instead of government revenue

Trucking is a dead industry anyways. They just don't know it yet.

Automation is about to go in dry.

Well that seems like a fair and logical alternative to me.

Like what? Give us some specifics.

My neighbor started a trucking company over the summer. Already has 2 employees.

i dont see how bulk trucking industry is dying

We ship bulk chemicals from the plants to the customer. Distributors cant make the raw material themselves. It has to get from point a to point b.

Bulk trucking companies are having a hard time finding drivers especially for hazardous materials. Drivers this day and age prefer driving van\reefer shipments instead of driving tankers.
