So it looks like we were all freaking out over Florida for nothing.

306 EVs. Would've still had 277 without Florida

One of the elements that makes this win so great was how improbable it looked at 8pm, even.

At one point, Florida and NC were damned close while PA, MI and WI weren't even supposed to be in play.

I was watching with my wife and remember thinking "what the frick is going on!" when he took then lead in 3 blue states in about 10 minutes. My wife isn't very political savvy so I had to explain to her that this is unprecedented.

Yeah, the stretch where he locked up FL, then took the lead in OH and NC was intense...

yeah, but seriously....not one person thought he could win without it. that path was pretty much impossible based on previous patterns.

he did in fact turn the model upside down. but only HE could have done that. any other GOP candidate wouldn't have figured it out.

ehhh. . . IMO, not necessarily. it's like in football, if you say that if the kicker makes the FG in the 2nd quarter, we win the game. that missed/made FG changes the complexion of the game, and the other team would have adjusted and played differently

same thing here IMO. BECAUSE florida was close/leaning red, I think trump supporters in wisconsin/MI/PA felt good, and went to the polls, knowing that he had a good chance. If florida was carried by HRC, republican turnout in the aforementioned states may not have been that high, and people may have just been dejected

like I said, I can't say for sure that florida going blue would NOT have mattered, just saying things don't exist in a vacuum
