It doesn't matter. the best thing that could happen from this is the emergence of a 3rd party. In my dream world, a party emerges that truly takes pride in small government and isn't a walking talking ideological contradiction via pandering to the religious right. Alas, it won't happen because parties need to pander to win and our small government officials will continue to legislate morality, tell us we can't buy liquor on Sundays, and wonder why they can't identify with people who fail the tissue test. It's sad because that's what we desperately need...

If Trump loses tonight, I will not only quit the Republican party but will not vote for a Republican candidate in any election for a long time. I have NEVER voted for a Democrat if there was a Republican running in the race. Think about that....think about some of the Republicans that means I have sold my soul to the devil in order to vote for.

Which is pretty fricking comical that they completely ignored the 2012 report.

The establishment most certainly didn't.

Barry Goldwater would be mortified at what the GOP has become. it deserves to die.

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

No they have lost their way. Needs to be blown up. Hopefully we retain the house and senate to shut down that bitch if she gets elected.

I hope your response is just heated hyperbole because I can't fathom being so blindly devoted to one party to ignore a candidate simply because of the consonant by their name. Voting for unqualified people solely by party lines is a big part of why we don't have a 3rd party.

So much truth in this statement. The republican alliance with christian conservative groups is a complete and total contradiction to the ideology of small government. If we can make up our mind and stay out of the lives of the people through the legislation of religious morality, we wouldn't be auto-branded as myopic racists and taken seriously again. First step to this was so many republicans completely ignoring Trump's moral resume. Fingers crossed that's a sign for hope for the future.

Bush was a disaster and didn't govern conservatively. Add in changing demographics, and the chronic perception that GOP = KKK.

I am so pissed about everything that has taken place and hope to hell Trump takes the whole thing down. But either way the Republican Party has some serious long term issues coming out of this. Will be interesting to see what evolves.

Start nominating electable candidates on the national level. That starts with the base not getting inflamed by clown commentators and hanger-ons. Quit calling conservatives "liberals" because they don't pass some nutjob purity test.

The political split is no longer Republican v Democrat; it has now become Nationalist v Global Statist. Global Statist being Open Border immigration, *Free* Trade, Middle Class loss of affluence with a shrinking Military and VA Single-Payer Healthcare.

I seriously doubt this stuff is settled by votes. Never has been, and given social media and the exposure of corruption in High Places...will be even more reason for abandonment of the (discredited) Rule of Law.

I think both parties have exposed themselves. Hopefully this leads to the end of the two party system.

You have good Republican candidates running for president, but they don't get the nomination. The problem is just as much the republican constituency.
