I play the OBAN Kyoshi 05 tipped 1"...It's an Xflex that plays between x and doubleX

Swing speed is normally around 118-120 on the driver

I play the AMTX100 DG shafts in my irons but i'm thinking about putting my 130Xtour KBS back in my new irons. I launch the irons almost too high for my liking.

There were lots of things that my fitting from Buddha that were confusing as you all know. I did trust his knowledge but to be honest I’d be lying if i said i knew that much about the technology etc that warranted his recommendations. He did say with me swinging that kind of speed that I’d have a hard time there were only about 3-4 shaft options that he would even consider putting me in. There was also a modus shaft he thought may be good but these provided the best combo decent launch and spin #s for me. I swung the x100 as well but spin #s were still a bit high.

Double X stiffness isn't surprising based on your speed, but the fact that you hit it really high with a ton of spin I'm guessing you have really fast tempo as well. DG is a balanced shaft as far as butt and tip stiffness. Going with a more tip stiff shaft should bring your ball flight and spin down further, but some people say they feel "boardy"

I think x7 has a few tour guys and college players who go all out every swing (according to Fully Equipped), which if you haven't given a shot, I'd recommend a listen.

Caveats: the push the big OEMs a good bit and they are in bed with TrueSpec. But if you know that going in, you'll enjoy the gear talk.

I would look into hard stepping an iron shaft in that position. Takes away the boardy feeling when you start taking away from the shafts themselves.

This is what the mizuno rep recommended. Get the x100 and hard step it. I imagine there is a slight feel difference but, hard to imagine it being major. Just my 2 cents though.

I liked it a lot when I played everyday, very minimal noticible difference.

These nuanced equipment discussions always remind me how I've kind of been playing golf blind for the last 25 years. Not that a lot of this stuff would make a big difference at my skill level, but my general ignorance is higher than I ever knew.

I just remember all the discusions i had with the club reps and manufacturers when the adjustable hosel tech came out..when you start thinking about true loft vs. dynamic loft when you adjust and how it changes, you can get into some weird places with that discussion.

You can and i have recently gotten truly lost in the chaos that is golf technology. I just wish there was some true legit trustworthy fitters around here. Would make this aspect of the game much easier. I’ll be working with James Leitz this spring snd summer and I’m going to have him eventually look at my bag. Even though i just bought the irons I’ve heard he is pretty legit.

I play the X7s with less speed than him. My 7 iron ss is around 92. They work well for me, but I still think I could bring my flight down a bit. I actually think I need to move into a Project X 6.5 or something similar to lower my ball flight. Sounds like he sounds look at a Project X 7.0 which would bring his window down. I am surprised Buddha wouldn't have recommended that.

I love the KBS shafts, they are so much smoother.

I can't imagine that a KBS Tour stiff would be more whipper than a S300, but it would feel more smooth.
