Need some help with figuring out a chemical I can spray on seedling Bermuda grass.

Long story short is we seeded some Bermuda grass on a new lake levee and around the lake. The Bermuda is growing and is up about an inch (I don’t know the growth stage), but is getting out competed by barnyard, crab grass, broad lead signal grass and coffee weeds might be some other broadleaf weeds in there. What can I spray(ag label or just A.I. is fine) to help the Bermuda grass out?

I don’t know much about seedling Bermuda. Everything might be the same, but I’m looking for knowledgeable opinions.

Edit: would Facet (dimethylamine salt of quinclorac) be fine on seedling Bermuda grass?

Don't spray anything on it. Unfortunately you are just going to have to let nature takes it's course. Spraying you seedling grass is going to cause more damage than the weed competition. Wait until after you mow two or three times to start controlling the weeds.

You will need to wait until the bermuda gets established. Some will get crowded out but you don't have much of a choice at this point.

Once it gets established then you can spray for weeds and depending on how much bermuda you got to establish and time of year, either reseed the bare spots or just push the bermuda that is already there with nitrogen and let it fill in.

Weed killer that is "safe" for Bermuda can't be used this time of year, too hot. Temps over 85, it will kill the Bermuda too.

Bermuda will need several months before its strong enough to withstand something to kill the broadleaf stuff.

Just keep plenty of nitrogen on it and let it get thick/strong. Once its 3-4 months at least you can hit it with some weed killer, and as other say be careful with high temps. Depending on the chemical it can really stress the bermuda.

Nothing... Keep the seed moist and fertilize about 1/2 pd per 1/k every week. You alone have about eight weeks of fast growing left

Next year is the year you will tell a huge difference. Unfortunately with the heat, no chemicals will work with how young it is. After the heat is over and it becomes dormant, spray a pre-emerge and weeds will have resistance this time next year. I spray MSMA as a maintainer to keep those weeds at bay and fertilize in between to help the Bermuda strive. Little at a time so it doesn’t grow to fast and keep it beautiful. Spray weed master to kill clover. Celsius to kill Virginia buttonweed. We couldn’t kill Bermuda grass in sugarcane so I just do the same in my yard.
