Is it still early to go out and catch a few dozen crabs in Rockefeller or Hackberry?

I have some really fond memories of crabbing with my grandpa off of bridges or the seawall. I really need to get into that again with my 9 year old son. Right now I am stuck to the shore without a boat, and I am sure times have changed since we did so well 40 years ago.

Anybody have a.n idea where I could take a couple of younger kids crabbing - no boat - near New Orleans? I suspect the lake options are no good due to all the freshwater but let me know if I’m wrong. Thanks!

Yes by the Paris road bridge. You can park by the launch and try along that canal.
