Downtown atmosphere

I love Uptown and rarely go to other parts of town unless needed BUT this Sunday I feel like the WHOLE city should fill the parking lots of the concrete jungle and get a good talegate atmosphere going. What is talegating normally like? Is it just people going to bars, or is there anywhere where loyal fans cook and give passerbys some grub. I will bring my own beverages to walk around and experience the sights and yell at opposing fans but I am wondering where there will be the most pople.
We need to come together as a FAMbase and send those fake LAers back to skid row!.

It will be happening so don't worry about that. The traditional tailgating is not very abundant as so many parking lots have been taken over by retail/condo, etc. There are still some, but not like it used to be.
It's a downtown, so I love bar hopping and going to the restaurants and such just as much.

It pretty much a playoff atmosphere in the whole city. If you want to tailgate though he equipment yard and overpasses west of the Dome is a good spot. also the parking lots by the holiday inn on Loyola

Uptown people are the worst. I bet you pitch a fit if you have to go to metairie for any reason

Just fill up downtown so season ticket holders can’t park. Great idea bro

There are some good tailgates, but its not what it was 10-15 years ago since many of the best tailgating lots on the riverside of Loyola have been developed.
However, it is a great street scene downtown and lots of people just barhop their way to the dome. Even with the weather Sunday will be rocking downtown.

How have you never been downtown to hang out for a freaking Saints game?

All of this is good info to know. My grandson lives in one of the new rat cages they put up downtown and I am trying to find a place we can walk around together. Maybe we will set up our own shoppe somewhere on the Poydras sidewalk. I can see us cooking some good Jambalaya for everyone who comes by.
I want everyone to have a good base layer before sucking down some doame foam and laying some good insults at LAers and they're plastic surgeried faces/chests.

In 2009 the entire area from Claiborne to the River was a madhouse all down Poydras. Even the freaking Jamba Juice on O'Keefe had a line out the door. I went down in the morning a walked around until about noon then headed over to a private party upstairs @ ACME on Bienville. The entire walk was like walking around during mardi gras. However, around 4pm the streets started to empty. When I tell you people got where they needed to be to watch that game it was like a ghost town. I walked out on the balcony during the TV timeout before Hartley's kick and it was so quiet. I'll never forget that. None of the bars in the quarter had their music going. The streets were empty. It was so crazy. Then pandamonium.

Before the Vikings game my wife and I got up early and spent the day walking across the Quarter, then the CBD, stopping in bars along the way and eating and drinking, and them finally made our way over to the Dome. It was a great day.

I too was at s bar on Bourbon. The tv we were watching was facing Bourbon and there was not a soul on the street, during Hartley’s kick. 5seconds later, like you said, pandemonium.
