Booked flights and rental car about 4 months ago. A few days ago Southwest emailed me to say they'd adjusted the departure time on my original flight and let me rebook a different flight.

I'm now getting in 2 hours later. Rental car was reserved for 8am, but now I won't be at counter until 10am. I tried to modify my reservation b/c I've been told they probably won't hold my car 2 hrs.

Modifying the reservation from 8am to 10am results in +$500 more for the vehicle I rented?!

What can I do?

Enterprise reservation through Costco btw

B/c it's 2 hrs later and Enterprise could give my rental away. I've been reading online that this is fairly common. It says that car rental reservations are not like hotel reservations and that car rental companies can and will rent your car to someone else if you're an hour or more late.

And they’ll probably give you a free upgrade if they give yours away. I would leave it.

If this is in the USA call a local rental location, I guess you are renting from the Airport? I don't know about calling an airport location. But local offices are usually very good over the phone and can do a lot of things calling the national location won't do.

This doesn’t mean anything. They just go to the lot and grab another.

For next time, choose national, become a member, and they’ll have the Emerald Isle. Always cars available and you walk up to choose the one you want.

Hopefully they'll have more than one Jeep Wrangler

Because it is being treated as a new reservation. As others have said, leave it alone. I don’t think they really care about a 2 hr delay. They are just as likely not to have a car at 8am as 10am.

I'd call the enterprise morning of your reservation and say your flight is delayed 2 hours / you'll be there at 10. Don't pay the money to change it
