If you are intentional and know exactly what you're doing, is it?
Tons of people eat one meal a day or strict during the week so they can eat whatever they want at times. If you aren't unhealthy mentally about it, it's fine.

It's unhealthy because you are essentially idolizing the junk food on the weekends. If you get a hold of yourself during the week, you can just have smaller portions and have it enough where you don't crave anything. It's not a big deal to only have one oreo, where if you constantly associate oreos with "I won't have this until next weekend, must get all I can now", you'll have an unhealthy relationship with that food down the line.
He already does IIFYM, why not just put those junk foods in the macros normally?

I sort of agree, but on the other hand pigging out on calorie dense food in a small window then abstaining for a lengthy period is probably more in line with human evolution and historical behavior.

What about option A? You just don’t eat junk food. I do OMAD during the week. It’s convenient, it’s usually a salad, a chicken or seafood entree with vegetables, and some dark chocolate or Greek yogurt with berries for dessert, about 1,500 calories. On the weekends I eat lunch & dinner to socialize with family and friends. But it’s not like I’m eating a container of Oreos, I’m still eating meat and vegetables. I’m just not paying attention to calories, and if I’m at someone’s house I don’t refuse the food they are serving because it doesn’t fit my diet.
I’ve been doing this about a year and I have a BMI of just below 25. I lost 30 or so pounds initially and continued to lose a few more pounds gradually over time. I think it’s an extremely healthy and flexible way of weight control.

It can be healthy for sure. If you're doing it intentionally.
If the entire goal of OMAD is being hungry all day so you can binge eat without any guilt, that's not healthy. That's obviously not your situation.

Walk/jog 4 miles weather permitting 4 to 5 times a week.

Nice. Was going to say that if lift or do endurance then that’s not that great of a structure for peak performance.

I do IF and usually run, cycle in the morning. I can do 2 hours, 10-13 miles plus with nothing but water.
