We were down in Destin last week, decided to “try” and visit Seaside. It was so packed, we didn’t even get out of the car after not finding a parking spot. We drive a couple miles east of it and come up on Steamboat Grill.
The place didn’t look too impressive, I’m thinking it’s going to be bland, everything fried in same grease, nasty food.
I was completely wrong.
We had the boiled shrimp and crab balls for appetizers. The shrimp were very good, just not very many. The crab balls were amazing.
For entrees, we had shrimp fettuccine, fish and chips, and shrimp poboy.
All were great, especially the fish and chips.

I guess my only complaint is their cole slaw was runny and too sweet.

Their crab balls are great. Everything else is decent. Seagrove Market’s fried seafood is much better.

Their food was 100x better than I was expecting, but this is the first time I’ve been to Destin in 20 years. I was expecting Gulf Shores subpar food.
Destin area (& 30A) has some good eats, unlike GS.

Right across the street from my house. When I’m down there I love to hang out at the bar, munch on apps, and watch sports. Great place.

We’re renting a place the first week of August, going to head there after Adam’s Underclassmen Showcase in Orlando. Hopefully he’ll be at the Top 40 camp from here on out, it’s not so late in the summer.

He’s been putting in a ton of time, I know he’s itching for a good result.

do you know Barrister or did you just feel the need to randomly brag on your son in the FDB? This has nothing to do with the topic

Barrister’s son is an accomplished kicker, and he gave us advice for a kicking coach. I assume his son probably attended the same showcase my son is going to, though he may have been Top 40 the whole time. Our journey is just starting, but Barrister gave it a push in the right direction.

We have a Seaside rental very soon, researching places to eat and drink…

There is a hand full of good places in GS/OB, but the bad outnumber the good 100 to 1

We always get freshly steamed shrimp from Buddy’s in Seagrove as an after beach snack. They have crab legs there and seafood dips of all sorts.

If the wife and I can get free, we usually hit NEAT in Alys for a drink.

Wife likes Basmati’s, so we usually go there.

We try to hit new places as much as possible, since we only make it over once a year.

Probably hit B&As once early in the week, since we’re arriving on a Monday and it shouldn’t be super crowded.

Seaside has a bunch of food trucks and also some stand alone restaurants

I tried the Pickle and also the crepes truck.

It rained one day so we went into Panama City and were back around 3:30pm
We went to Steamboat Grill thanks to antique tiger. I ate mainly appetizers and a few beers.
It was good crab balls and shrimp.

Cafe 30A didn’t have any reservations available early enough for us with kids.
