Abt 6-7 years ago I bought an 8x10 area rug, 100% wool, machine made in India. It had a weird order that I hoped would dissipate with time. It didn’t . It’s been cleaned professionally by reputable companies twice but odor is still there. It was originally in a large open living-dining area so it wasn’t overpowering. After redecorating it now lives in my bedroom and the smell is really bad. Any suggestions ?

You say you've had it cleaned twice by reputable companies and it still stinks, sounds like maybe it's time to get rid of it.

Have you tried putting it outside in the sun to air out over some type line to keep it off the ground so air can get completely around it.

That is what one of my aunts use to do with rugs, heavy bedspreads, quilts, etc.

No lie pre ban rugs are insane expensive but many are not cheap. I suggest yard sales in areas of old arse wealthy homes many people have no idea what they have. They are almost indestructible and the older and more worn that are $$$$$ it’s insane.
