So all blacks vote for black candidates just because they are black?

Because there are not white people who vote against candidates just because they are black right? (and vice versa).

This is the problem. I am looking at the 2017 NO mayor race results. There was a 32% turnout. That's horrible.

Latoya lead in votes with 39%. So the majority of the people who voted didn't vote for her.

Now lets go to the runoff. Turnout was 33% and she won with 60% of the votes.

She is actually kind of vulnerable based on those numbers. You can't say that she won because all the blacks voted for her.. Because the majority of whites and blacks didn't even vote. She got the majority of the 33% who went vote.

Any candidate who can generate any time of excitement, is willing to tackle the issues that have an impact on people.. and actually have a plan, etc and can get people out to the polls will beat Latoya..

With only 33% of the people going out to vote.. That tells me that 67% of the voters are probably thinking "why waste my time, there is no one worth a damn to vote for. Its the same shite, different day"..

Someone who can convince those people that it is worth their time to go vote would win.

Not to mention, as for as race, does race play a factor when there are two black candidates? I think white ultra liberals play a bigger factor. Because they all vote for the same candidate. And the woman who was in the runoff with Latoya looks like she was the more conservative of the two.. Which ultra white liberals (who do go vote come hell or high water) was not going to support.
