Kudrna #39 prospect
Kudrna's projectability stood out more than his present stuff until he broke out at the Area Code Games last August. That performance and subsequent efforts at the tail end of the showcase circuit boosted him from a pitcher who seemed destined to attend Louisiana State to a potential second- or third-round pick, and his stock has continued to rise this spring. He should become Kansas' highest-drafted prep pitcher since Riley Pint went No. 4 overall in 2016.
After flashing a low-90s fastball and lacking consistency with his breaking ball in the past, Kudrna made a jump at the Area Codes. He operated with a 92-95 mph heater, using his 6-foot-3 build and three-quarters arm slot to create some angle and sink, and unveiled a sharper 82-85 mph slider. He has maintained that velocity and carried it deep into games in 2021, topping out at 97 with his fastball and 87 with his slider.
Kudrna also shows some advanced feel for a low-80s changeup with fade, giving him the makings of a solid three-pitch mix, though it can get too firm at times. His arm works well and he has good rhythm in his delivery, which allows him to fill the strike zone. There's still projection remaining in his frame, giving him the upside of a No. 3 starter.

Carter Jensen #62
Among the top high school catchers, Jensen may be the best pure hitter but also raises the most questions as to whether he'll be able to stay behind the plate. He performed well throughout the prep showcase season and helped his cause defensively by dedicating himself to improving his conditioning. His profile resembles Kyle Schwarber's as an amateur, though Jensen is more athletic at the same stage of their careers.
Jensen doesn't have a conventional setup at the plate, sitting on his back leg more than usual, but he makes consistent hard contact from the left side. He does damage against left-handers and right-handers, fastballs and offspeed pitches, managing the strike zone well and utilizing the entire field. His strength stands out more than his bat speed but he has the potential for at least average power.
Jensen's solid arm definitely fits at catcher, but he'll have to continue to improve his receiving to stay there. The Louisiana State recruit has the desire and work ethic to do so, though some scouts wonder if he'd have more value maximizing his offensive production by playing a less taxing position. Though he's a below-average runner, that's better than most backstops, and he might be able to play third base or an outfield corner.

A year ago, Case Williams became the first Colorado high school pitcher to get drafted and signed in the top five rounds when the Rockies took him in the fourth round. Lansville, who jumped on teams’ radars with a strong showing at the Perfect Game National Showcase, the Area Code Games and a perfect inning at the PG All-American Classic last summer, has the chance to give the Centennial State two prep pitchers in a row to go in the early rounds.
While Lansville is a bit undersized at six-foot, he’s strong, compact and athletic on the mound. His fastball sits in the 93-94 range, but it has some ride to it and a shorter arm stroke leads to some deception, making the pitch tough to square up when he’s commanding it well. He throws a short, three-quarter power breaking ball in the 81-83 mph range that he calls a curve, but has more slider action to it at times. Whatever you call it, it’s firm and late, with some bit and shape to it, and it could be a true swing-and-miss pitch for him in the future. His mid-80s changeup isn’t quite as good, but it does have some cutter-like qualities to it.

Brock Selvidge #113
Arizona high school powerhouse Hamilton High School has had a number of players get drafted and a few make it to the big leagues, headlined by the Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger. Bellinger is the most recent to be taken in the top five rounds (2013, fourth round), but Hamilton could very well have another in Selvidge, the top prep talent in the state.
Athletic and strong, this high school lefty has some serious arm strength and speed that should be attractive to a number of teams. I found it interesting Luke Leto is not even considered top 150 by this article. I know we touched on this before and you guys mentioned the lack of agility. I was looking at his highlights Project attached and not very impressive. Not very agile and the throws to first were way off. I know it is a short sample, but I have my doubts if he could even play 2B after watching those. I see him as a 1B, or DH in college.

The most recent Baseball America list has him at 228 and now lists him as a 3B/RHP . I think he's going to be a corner guy. If the rumors are true that Mainieri is retiring and we're getting a new coach, many of the coaches mentioned (McDonnell, Godwin, Vitello) have a history of using 2-way players, so Leto could fit that as maybe a LF/reliver.

I coach that loves recruiting and plays two way players would be a welcome change.
Looking at these two catchers they both seem similar to Travinski. I wonder if we got one on campus if he would even be a starter. If they struggle on defense that could be a problem. What are your thoughts?

I think if we get Jensen, his bat has him in the lineup right away but not necessarily behind the plate.
Moller would split time catching as his bat comes around, similar to how I thought Jordan Thompson would do this year.
Right now, I think they're both big draft risks.

I really like Leto's bat and before this year assumed he was gone. If he does make it to campus he would be a perfect DH/LF assuming he can't work at 3B.
If Connor Simon can somehow make it to campus the infield will have some firepower up the middle which it has greatly missed out on in recruiting since 2016.

Javen Coleman will pitch for Covington in the Valley League this summer. He will be teammates with Garrett Edwards. That's 4 freshman pitchers scheduled for that league so far.
Zach Arnold will play for the Keene Swamp Bats in the NECBL. Him and Cranford (Martha's Vineyard) will be our first players in that league in a while.
Jacob Hasty will pitch for Danville in the Prospect League. We normally also send an incoming freshman there, but no one is listed there yet.

He will definitely be at LSU. His injury was a minor setback. I hate that he had to miss his entire HS senior baseball season.

Last time I spoke with his father, as long as his recovery stays on track, he should be able to throw and start hitting 4-6 months after his surgery. I don’t believe he will be ready this summer but should be good to go for the fall.

Moller has dropped in the rankings and I am not seeing him as sure fire first round draft pick in some of the mock drafts. LSU’s catcher situation sets up nicely for him to come in and start day 1. I expect there is a chance he makes it to campus but albeit very small.
