Byron York: Why House GOP has had it with Liz Cheney

Has little to do with her impeachment vote
quote:
on January 13, [Dan] Newhouse voted to impeach President Donald Trump.
quote:
On January 25... Newhouse sent out a press release announcing that he had been chosen to serve as one of his party's assistant whips
quote:
So much for ruthless Republican punishment of GOP lawmakers who voted to impeach Trump. Cheney's problem is not that she voted to impeach Trump. It is that she can't move on from voting to impeach Trump.

I really think she's setting herself up as the next Hillary Clinton. She's got all the right credentials.

It’s obvious the play these days is to pretend to be a “moderate”.
When you have radicals rioting and burning down cities, it’s easy to market someone perceived to be center. This is the play now that being a “leftist” is becoming a pejorative term similar to “right wing” thanks to antifa (just an idea)

The real money is on K Street. Congress is just an audition to lobby. Liz, having mouthed the platitudes of the ruling elites, can safely transition to a $1M job working for lobbying firms after she loses the Republican nomination for her seat this time next year.

Screw her RINO arse. She can go to hell.

I thought this was a good piece from York.
My takeaway was that it was okay for some overt RINOs to test the anti-MAGA waters with Peach Mint 2.0 vote. When that plan clearly backfired, Plan B was to fade quietly into the background and see if the bad oranges man would fade away on his own. Attention whore Cheney is ruining Plan B with her big mouth and McCarthy is catching the heat (with no help from Tucker dragging his nuts across his face nightly)

I think that’s an accurate summation. The GOPe thinks they have dodged the populist bullet. They are still asleep.

You're on the money too about Cheney looking for K-Street kickbacks post-2022 though. She knows she's toast as a politician and doesn't like the commoners she represents anyway. She figures she can raise her name recognition as a "maverick" who can work across the aisle for her future gig. She's a beltway bitch.
