Our family room really only has room for a 55" screen, so that is what I'm looking at. Are there significant differences in the picture and/or sound?

The Hisense is Android TV and the TCL is Roku. I have Roku TVs, but have never had an Android TV, so is there anything I need to know about Android TV?

I will be using Youtube TV and a few apps - Youtube, Netflix, ESPN, and very few others.

Both are priced at $699. Is there anything else in that price range to consider? We don't watch a lot of tv - an occasional movie and LSU sports. No gaming to worry about on this TV. I do want the sports to look good and this would be the TV that guests would watch.

I have a TCL 5 series from 2020 and it looks great. 6 series is supposed to be amazing. Make sure you plug it in and check the panels before mounting it. I had to return the first one once I got it out of the box because of screen issues.

TCL, the Hisense H9G has a bad problem with fake colors and it can't really be corrected.

Not really. I have a Shield TV that probably runs Android TV better than anything else.

I also have a cheapo TCL in the garage that runs it--it runs it about as well as a cheap TV runs Roku.

I prefer Android TV to Roku TV and we have both.

At different times I've had Disney, Prime, Hulu, Youtube TV, HBO Max....maybe some others. All the major apps are in the Google Play store.
