You lost me at “parents”. If they are fortunate to have both there is probably enough discipline present in them being raised to have self discipline when being pulled over.

Funny thing is my father always told me to try to get out of the car before the cop stops his car. Have all your paperwork in hand. Only once has an officer asked me to get back in the car. That time didn’t lead to a ticket. Two other times I got a ticket. But those were small towns so I wasn’t getting out anyways. Once the cop never got out of his car.

Good idea.
I'll make a quick grab for my phone in the drivers seat next time
Or, when you get see you're getting pulled over, set the phone in the cup holder and press record...

The more I see these situations take place, the more I'm considering installing a dash cam in my car, my wife's car, and my kid's car. When the shite hits the fan, I don't trust anybody to not try to cover up their dirty mess when they frick up. I can tell you personally, that I won't do a damn thing that will get me shot by the police.
The least thing to do is when you lights behind you: get stopped, find your phone, press record, and set it in the cup holder.

There’s an epidemic of people who have no respect for themselves or others. That’s the real issue.

I remember as a kid my dad got a new stereo that had a recording option. He wired a small mic to just above his door/window in case he got stopped. I also remember me running up to him when he got home to hear a story of some "punk" he raced on the hwy coming home. Ha.
As for this case...not surprising the cop was antsy since the warrant was for having an unregistered gun. At this point the media has a lot of blame by focusing on the "racist boogeyman" instead if putting some on telling people not to do anything stupid. It's really not that hard.

Had the talk with my dad when I was 16.
Total BS that black people have co-opted "the talk". Frick them.
At this point, I'm ready to say it, Frick this country.

black parents need to have the same talk with their kids

This could be a problem.

Evidently black parents need to have the same talk with their kids that white parents have
Just have them watch the 20 year old Chris Rock skit on How to not get your arse kicked by the police.
..or, in today’s climate, shot.
