When did LSU become such a goat ranch?

Went to the range at LSU today for the first time in probably 10 years. I can remember when I was a kid the whole facility being in pretty decent shape. Including lights on the range and at the pitch and putt course.

Today it was the most god awful place I’ve ever been to. No grass on range, chipping green looked like moguls on a mountain and just overall has gone to shite. How long ago did this happen?

When the front nine became a parking lot, maybe even before that.

Steady decline over the past ten years, but it reached unacceptable levels in the past two years

I’ve probably played it 75 times, it was a fun place to play 10 years ago:

I don’t even recognize it now.

I hate how bad it’s gotten.

I loved LSU in the late 90s.

I played a few months ago for the first time in years and it was literally the worst course I have ever played on.

Not kidding.

I quit after 4 holes.

Not even sure why its still open.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect the LSU golf team doesn't practice or play there.

I believe it was not maintained during the lockdown last year and that was the nail in the coffin.

It has gotten progressively worse the last few years. It is unplayable at this point. They have just completely stopped giving a shite out there.

Used to love playing it. Fun and unique layout, but they do not even attempt to maintain it anymore. I wish LSU would pump some money into it and make it at least halfway decent again but I’m sure that will not happen

Nail in the coffin is when Mike left and they did a hybrid clubhouse manager / superintendent management style. They cut super's budget and he's not very good at what he does.

I've always said they need to turn over the course management to the Turf Management program at LSU and let them keep it up.

They took mikes salary and gave it to an accountant who is not on site and knows nothing about golf ?????.
I said if your going to put LSUs name on it make it decent! They need to privatize it! They have no clue how to run it and put zero dollars on to it. They privatized the bookstore and it’s much much better. The bottom line it’s government and common sense isn’t part of the job description. The course is an embarrassment to the LSU name and by far the worst campus course in America! With all the course closings around town there is a real opportunity to make LSU very nice and profitable but replacing Mike with a retired plant manager then not giving him the resources to do the job will leave it wallowing in mediocrity forever.
