It’s been a few years, been going to Abasin the past few. Not sure on the sale. The ski lift accident accident happened just a few weeks after my last time at Granby.
It bewilders me that someone with small kids would not lower the safety bar on the lift. It’s a moving lift, the staff won’t do it for you. It’s sad the mom died from the fall, but common sense might have likely prevented all of what happened

Tons of people don’t use them, which blows my mind. I’m not familiar with that incident, but they don’t regulate and force people to use them at all in my experience. Part of its probably that a lot of skiers are adrenaline junkies. But hell it makes me nervous not having a bar between my legs even if there’s a bar down.

We went a few weekends ago and I was able to Park both days in the spot in front of the drop off area and where buses drop off up next to the road. You just wait a bit or get early and you can get a spot there.
ABasin is a great ski/snowboarding area

Hopefully whitefish, MT this week. I go there 2-3 times a year and outside of weekends you usually ski right onto the lifts. Leave tomorrow!
