Sun Valley/Ketchum

I searched and saw some praise for these places but not a lot of details. Question is would you recommend either/or for a non-skiing trip in February? What are the towns like in terms of amenities, nightlife, culture etc. How do the towns compare to a place like Breckenridge, Aspen, etc. And what other non skiing activities would you recommend? We'd probably get a day of skiing in if possible but it wouldn't be a ski centric trip. I've heard good things and flights to Boise right now are outrageously cheap.

the sun valley lodge is a beautiful resort, and the new limelight hotel is super nice and hip. apart from downhill skiing, the lodge has an ice rink and several nordic/cross country skiing trails. there is also world-class nordic skiing just up 75 at galena lodge. you could also rent a fat/snow bike and ride the trails. i know the outfitters there are still taking people out to fish the big wood and silver creek, but i imagine the fly fishing is slow right now. the hemingway memorial is cool, but as far as culture and nightlife there is not THAT much. we always eat at enoteca and stop at warfield distillery/brewery.
sun valley, ketchum, and a bit further south hailey are chill and down to earth compared to places like aspen. it's a lovely place but we go in the summers when there is so much more to do. or at least, more stuff that we like to do (mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, etc). we don't miss the lack of nightlife or stuff like that, because we're outside for 10 hours per day.

I 2nd the Sun Valley Lodge and summertime. An absolute slice of heaven. Drive up to Stanley to white water raft. The serenely and color of the water is jaw dropping. Go up to Red Fish Lake Lodge for an afternoon. More stunning scenery. Good food options and that was 10 years ago. Bet it’s even better now.
We did fly fishing, played a nice golf course and really enjoyed it. Get ready to see Golden retrievers and people without an ounce of fat. If it wasn’t as far away as it is, for us, I would seriously consider retiring there.
BTW, you probably won’t be able to get up to Stanley and/or the lodge as the roads usually are closed, going that way, in winter due to a lot of snow.

Haven't been to Breck or Aspen but lived in Ketchum for 10 years.
Laid back town, excellent food, good scenery. Skiing is obviously the main winter attraction, but of you aren't into that, there's snow shoeing, ice skating, and fishing.
If you're just there to hang out, look into reservations at the Roundhouse. Sun Valley also used to do a sleigh ride dinner that was fun. The ski lodges are good for apre, but are running at limited capacity this winter.
With covid a lot is probably changing so I'd verify in advance.

can't go wrong with sun valley. and heck, you can use bogus basin (just a few minutes north of boise) as a plan C.

Thanks for some solid replies yall. I like what I'm seeing. We're looking for a solid mountain town with activities outside of skiing to relax post-wedding for a few days, without the crowds that some of the Colorado towns might have. Ideally we'll be skiing too. This seems to fit the bill. Only concern really is how shut down everything will still be come February because of Covid.

Just an FYI on Bogus this year. You'll need to book your lift tickets online in advance. They've been limiting capacity this year due to COVID. Also, the drive up can be a little bit sketchy depending on the weather.
