quote:

Surveillance cameras captured the moment a Florida man rushed into a pond to rescue his puppy from the jaws of an alligator.

Richard Wilbanks said he followed his instincts when he saw his dog, Gunner, in the gator's grip.

The entire incident was caught on camera thanks to a partnership between the Florida Wildlife Federation and the fSTOP Foundation.

Wilbanks and Gunner are OK now, but the dog owner told WINK the experience taught him a lesson.

“(Pets are) like children to us, so there was no second thought whatsoever," Wilbanks told the news station. “(Gunner) had one little puncture wound, and … my hands were just chewed up."

Not enough gator there to get a wallet and a kids belt out of the hide. Bet if that gator was 6 ft. or better that dog would have been lunch.

Still, good on him for saving his pups life

That almost seemed staged. I believe it wasnt but had that been a tree shakah that pooch was a gonner. Good on him to take the pooch from an over grown lizard but the news made it sound like he saved his dog from lake placid

That dude is a freakin' beast! I don't care how small the gator was, it was still a gator. Kudos to big man!
