LSU could learn a lot from the undermanned Arkansas team

Arkansas enters just about every game with less talent, but Pittman has that team playing hard, together and confident. I have enjoyed watching Arkansas this season because they never give up and never stop fighting until the last seconds tick away. With LSU's talent-laden roster, hopefully the coaches and players took notes and we will see a different team in the final few weeks of the season. It's one thing to lay down and lose and it's another thing to fight until the end and lay it all on the line.

Arkansas could learn a little from the undermanned team that went on the road and won.

LSU had that makeup in ‘17. Better talent than this Arkansas team not comparing that.... but not as talented as other LSU teams... not as many playmakers, very thin on DL, smart but not a specially talented QB.... despite the Canada/Orgeron riff that team played hard.
LSU always does that’s why this season has been so hard to watch. At least yesterday effort was clearly better.

We're talking about talent wise. Do you think Arkansas has the same level of talent as LSU? It's not even close!

LSU can learn nothing from Arkansas. They suck.

Have you seen our front 7 “talent”?

Arky had damn near their entire two-deep on the Line out.
that was basically their scout team.
you REALLY think guys outside of Arky's two deep are more talented than LSU starters?

You say this a day after LSU grinded out a road win while missing their best two corners, playing a true freshman QB.
I'm impressed with the way Pittman has turned things around at Arkansas but you can compliment the Hogs effort without questioning that of LSU's.
I saw a young, undermanned team fighting yesterday.
Go watch Jay Ward block that FG and tell me the kids didn't want that. He would have had every reason to sulk and quit after a tough season but he went out there and made the winning play.

Well, they are winning conf. games with the same talent that couldn't win one to save their life last year. And played us close with something like 58 scholarship players (and a walk-on starting in the D-backfield) to boot.
They are having fun and obviously have "buy-in" in what the coaches want to do. They play within their scheme and trust in their scheme the coaches have come up with.
So coaching matters. They want to be there. And they believe every game is a potential win, true or not when they take the field.
Coaching matters.
The biggest take away is they have faith in their coaches plan/scheme. Which is the exact opposite of last year. Why? because when their staff identifies something they do well, the build on it and skew the scheme that way. Success breeds success. Instead of trying focus on what they don't do well, they do more of what they do do well and then keep trying to improve the weaknesses (instead of forcing it down their throats over and over). That's how you build trust and faith between players and coaches.
There's a reason coaches that are scheme-orientated (that's their bread and butter) struggle as head coaches. If you are a coach like Chad Morris who has one thing and one thing only- an offensive scheme - when it comes to doing more of what you do best, if that thing isn't part of your scheme you won't do it. You'll just keep trying to make your players fit your super duper scheme and then, as you will discover, failure breeds failure.
Hint: Bo Pelini and his scheme with Stingley and Ricks in the D-backfield. Waste of talent.
