Flight cancelled due to Covid. Refund miles or money?

Back in March we booked a trip to Chicago through united and it was cancelled due to covid. When cancelling, I called and asked specifically if we would be refunded the miles or the money be credited to our account. The informed me we would get miles but my account is only showing credit for the price of the flight (which was way cheaper at the time).
Anybody have any experience with this?

You have your money back? But because it was a good deal for the flight you'd like miles instead as they are worth more?
If you were made whole I would move on, otherwise I don't understand your question?

If they gave you a credit instead of the miles, call back and get your miles. Also, if this happened in March why wait until October to figure it out?
