Fell into the offseason optimism trap

Remember before the 2019 season started, we were mostly convinced we would be in the playoffs?
Then Zion got hurt and 13 losses in a row happened.
The break just allowed our blind optimism to bubble up again.
Four months of anticipation ruined in 6 quarters.

This board thought we were a darkhorse to upset the Lakers in the first round back in January.

quote:Yea, I was on board the thought of putting zero stock into the 3 scrimmages but regardless I assumed I'd see wayyyyyy better than what I've seen so far.

The problem was that the team really got into a rhythm without Zion and then had to remember how to play with him. It was the same thing that happened in the preseason, when we won all our games and then had to adjust to playing without Zion.

The reason the Pels are the pre season 96 Bulls is because Gentry’s dumb arse system is great when the opposite team isn’t playing defense.
As soon as they are, the whole play fast no matter what shite doesn’t work. It just means we run up the court and take a dumb contested shot as fast as possible. Or, if we actually pretend to play a half court offense, we have no idea what to do. The other team isn’t tired from putting in the bare minimum effort on defense. They just don’t bother doing it in the pre season.
However, the Pels are tired from trying to play so fast. And thus we play no defense what so ever. And have no idea how to play defense because Gentry don’t care. Just play faster. That will help.
